In short: 10/10
In full: Well what a fantastic race. really enjoyed myself. Torrential rain the night before meant we were unable to cross at the river crossing but made the terrain 'interesting':{
to say the least. Well-organised baggage storage with the 'footwash' near the finish (ie the river)! Great organisation and thought with someone even running the course earlier in the morning to mark any hazzards with bright orange marker. WELL DONE AVR!!

In short: No surprises
In full: After the recent weather (and bearing in mind the event's name) I wasn't surprised by the conditions. Whoever designed this course however must have been some sort of masochist haha!. All in all great fun. Marshalls did a sterling job in the conditions - thankyou. A race that makes you ache for days but pleased to say you've completed it. Well done - these village events never seem to fail to deliver.

In short: a slog from 9!!
In full: Like everyone's saying just too good for words - congrats to all concerned. Already knew what to 'expect' from 9-12.5 miles so not too bad on that front. Lovely bag at the end together with smiling faces. Agree totally with the first prize to the kids at 5 miles..... as I approached I thought there must be hundreds around the corner :-)

In short: Glad it wasn't hot
In full: Not sure how big the field was but still surprised to find only two 'sit-down' loos for the boys! Surprises me how much these flat courses take out of me..got a PB but only just and last time was on an undulating course! - whats that about? Surprised no momento of any kind after such a long distance. (I'm more of a 10k'er). If i'd done this distance for the first time i'd be even more disappointed

In short: Well done
In full: I was aware (as many others also should have been) that there may quite a few runners this year as I had noted in a few previous races that this was part of the dorset series. First timer at this event. Not as hilly (or muddy )as the moonraker.. not as narrow as the maiden loop in places. Not really bothered about another medal so all in all a really nice day out for me friends and family. I for one say well done to all concerned

In short: First time - but already a favourite
In full: Although listening to last years competitors I missed torrential rain but with the heat this year it was still 'entertaining'. Lovely variety and hills. Loads of stiles a waist high pond and a river too. Excellent organisation. Everybody so laid-back makes this one of my all-time favourites, so-much-so not even bothered about the finishing time!! Well done all at Somer ac

In short: Mud and more!!
In full: Really 'fun to do' event. nice to get off the roads again after fleet hm last week. as already mentioned.. fantastic VFM. not expecting (a very good quality) t-shirt. Must say a big thanx to Adrian of Somer ac who stopped to make sure I was ok after thinking I'd nearly finished off my ankle on one of the last declines at the 5 mile mark.(Did manage to keep hobbling to the end) That's what makes these off roader's special for me.. everyone looks out for each other and loads of camaradery. The opponent is the terrain!!!!Everyone should mark this in their diary for next year. You missed a good one!!Well done Bitton RR

In short: So glad the clouds parted for the race!!
In full: Couldn't believe that after a 1.5 hour journey through TORRENTIAL rain to get to the event that I wouldn't get wet at all whilst running. Felt really sorry for the organisers who had to endure the aftermath of the weather at the finish line. Amazed at a PB - nearly cracking the elusive 7m/m pace! Only missed out by a few seconds which was annoying to say the least - therefore couldn't understand why RW pacer was nowhere near... maybe I beat him ha ha ha I doubt it. Lovely race. Thanks to all involved
