In short: Great organisation and a challenging hilly course
In full: I ran this last year and they've changed the course so you get more big hills at the start but its a definite improvement at the end. I'd forgotten how hilly this run actually is - there are few flat segments over 1k or so it seemed. Once again, over 20 degree heat made it tough but there are plenty of water stations (orange squash would be a welcome addition). Well marshalled. Great atmospere and organisation at start and finish lines. Makes a good family day out with the other events too and the park location. Pity about the shambles getting out of the parking afterwards.

In short: 10m - Great day & good oranisational make this well worth attending
In full: The combination of a fun run, 10K and 10m make this an event suitable for all standards. Organisation very good with many marshalls along the course. Course predominantly scenic rural lanes. Temperatures and course made it perfect for a PB. Great support at finish line. And the food stalls at the end where great - particularly impressed by the tandoori chicken wraps and beer on tap! Will be there in 2009. Excellent event.

In short: IoW Marathon 2008 - Hot and very hilly!!!!
In full: A very well organised run over some serious hills that never stop! An 11am start on a scorching day made it even harder. This was brilliantly marshalled and very friendly. The change of course and the loop back up that hill at 20-23 was very cruel as was seeing the winning banner and then having to run another loop around the streets! Great fun but way too hot for a marathon!

In short: Surprising good run and great marshalls
In full: I was hoping for a nice flat road race so I could get a PB but it turns out the lovely Bracknell footpaths are actually quite hilly! Although not very intersting views, this is a very well organised race. Great marshalls, loads of water stations and not too many runners. Would run it again.

In short: Beautiful scenery and flat except for 2 hillss
In full: I love Bournemouth and this run was great, most of it along the prom from Alum to Southbourne, a PB special. The hills are quick and not too demanding. Only weakness in the set up is the maze around residential Southbourne requiring lots of (open) road crossing. Not enough marshalls controlling the traffic - I saw one poor runner fall flat on his face as he was so busy trying to see if the road was clear. Other that that 1 mile of the course, this once is very good, especially with the sun out and not too much breeze.

In short: Big big hills with breathtaking views
In full: A great location, staggering landscape and very steep hills. I ran Portland and this course was much better but 2 criticisms - course marking was poorer so I saw many go off route several times, and this was actually 15.5m! I don't mind running that distance but if I'm told HM, a start pushing at 12m. To then find a mystery 2m after that over this terrain was a killer plus I thought we might have gone off course (again)! Will be trying the others next year as they're brilliant fun and the organisers seem like a good bunch.

In short: A fantastic trail run, great views, big steep hills. Very good fun.
In full: I ran the HM, my first one over this kind of terrain. Beautiful cliff paths, chesil beach and one very steep incline from 0 to 400+ feet very quickly. The event was well organised and the after run meal was top notch. The higher entry fee was worth it as the runner numbers were low. I'm signing up for their Exmoor one now. I take my hat off to the marathon nutters who did 2 laps!

In short: Excellent hilly and wet course. Filthy Fun!
In full: This makes road running seem so boring. First half fairly dry and easy, if quite hilly. But onwards from the Bog of Doom (a waist deep trench of stinking mud) it got very hard. Sheer drops into water, tough climbs and those sand dunes! This is a special one. Best I've done in 2007. Getting into the car park took far too long and it needs many more marshalls on the course - lots of injury potential on this one. I will definitely run it in 2008.

In short: Magnificent sea views broken up by hideously steep inclines/descents by stepss
In full: A throughly brilliant race. Well organised. Great value. Without a doubt the best views I've ever seen on a run. My first off roader but the terrain was fairly kind, except for those stairs - if people run all of them, they are doing some serious hardcore training. Happy with a 1:57 time - shame the castle has got the scaffolding up at the moment or the final approach would also have been stunning. Never a chance of a PB here unless you cane it at the start - queues for the stiles/bridges can either be seen as relaxing or annoying. Will be back in 2008.
