In short: Wet, windy, hilly In full: This race was in the pouring rain with no respite. Hill at 7 mile marker is a tough one and the remaining three miles are undulating and twisty. However, marshalls were great, madder than we were given the rain, and I got a PB! Date of review: November 8, 2005
In short: Well organised, small friendly marathon In full: My first marathon and "enjoyable?" it was.
However the course is definitely undulating with the, albeit small, hills between 18 & 23 miles being very energy sapping.
Loads of water and sponge stations and excellent marshalling and policing that cannot be faulted.
Having the half go 30 minutes before means that at the end the marathon runners are on their own for prize giving, massage etc which allows a convivial atmosphere to develop. Date of review: September 19, 2005
In short: Excellently organised race In full: Really enjoyed this race, good scenery, good organisation, interesting course, goody bag, excellent value. Obviously organised by runners for runners, and I got a PB! Date of review: August 8, 2005
In short: Expensive, though enjoyable race In full: Our club likes to have a big turn out at this race as it is local so it's a three line whip, so I'll be back but it is very expensive for what you get. The course is scenic, two and a half laps through Winchester, though the roads are not closed so you need to dodge the traffic, which given the cost is not considered good practice IMO. In short: Nice Race with views over the Solent and New Forest In full: Very well organised event through nice scenery. Flatish course so good PB potential. Excellent value especially with an unadvertised commemorative mug thrown in. Date of review: October 18, 2004
