In short: A reasonable race on a very warm day In full: As others have said I think the start and the management of the course itself was a good improvement on last year.
The marshalls, spectators and the other runners were excellent in providing encouragement and support when the going got tough. Thanks particularly to the people of local towns / villages for the vocal support, the hosepipe cooling, unofficial drinks stations and jelly babies - excellent.
What let the race down, as has already been said, was the distance from the finish line to the baggage lorries and then on to the shuttle buses. The last thing you want, when you've just run a marathon is another 2 miles of walking.
I plan to return next year, hopefully to improve on my time and also to see further improvements in the organisation, particularly at the finish. Date of review: May 27, 2010
In short: Great scenery and organisation. A challenging course with a few steep hills. Thanks to the marshalls, people manning the drinks stations and the spectators. A great day out. See you next year. Date of review: May 19, 2010
In short: A challenging first 6 miles then a reasonably flat 7 miles to the finish. Good support from the marsahlls and spectators around the course. A warm day this year. I'll be back next year, perhaps for the marathon. Date of review: May 4, 2010
In short: Amazing race, spectators, runner and marshalls. You remember the atmosphere long after the aches and pains have gone. I hope I can get in again next year - just one more time, maybe. Date of review: May 4, 2010
In short: Excellent organisation. Fast, flat course. Loads of crowd support in the town. The start and finish in the Market Square is very special. Thanks to all concerned. I'll be back next year. Date of review: May 4, 2010
In short: I found the organisation fine, the marshalls and people manning the drinks stations supportive, even the visitors to Blackpool were supportive. The course modifications this year made the run a bit easier. I'll be back in 2011. Date of review: April 15, 2010
In short: Organisation is second to none. The marshalls were friendly, the drinks stations were well stocked with energy gels, jelly babies etc. The course is a good test of fitness before a spring marathon. Thanks to all involved in making the race a success Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: This race is always challenging. Although sunny, the wind was quite strong, particularly when combined with the hills. The marshalls were supportive, as were the people at the drinks stations. Great preparation for a marathon. Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: Great organisation, friendly runners, marshalls and spectators set in what must be one of the most beautiful parts of the country. The weather was ideal as well. A race I'll remember for a very long time - for all the right reasons. Date of review: March 11, 2010
