In short: When will the organisers ever learn In full: 2006 was my first half marathon and I was disappointed with the start then. With the amount of people that also pointed this out then this should have meant some better organisation at the start this year. I was lucky to get a good spot in my pen "1hr > Tuesday" finish time. Why was Anchor road only open one side at the start of the course followed by a back street. Surely the start/finish could have been moved a matter of yards to avoid the bottleneck. Didn't even see where to get the goody bags. Plenty of time to organise the t-shirt. There is absolutely no excuse for this. Local press will only pick up the points made by people who were happy & the huge majority of runners let down will no doubt have there views brushed aside. Come on Bristol, Sort out the organisation & stop bleating on about how big an event it is. The potential is huge. I'm a proud Bristol lad but always seem to be embarassed at the organisation for any large event in the area Date of review: September 11, 2007

In short: Glorious summer evening event In full: Had that special local race feel. Simple but adequately organised. Great scenery & mix of terrain. Tarmac, Grass, Canal path, Styles. Not slighty bothered by nearly going the wrong way as the marshall was busy fixing the flamengo direction signs (Nice touch) In short - Charming Date of review: September 6, 2007

In short: A good weekday workout In full: An excellent course with a good mix of track, mud, rocks & tree stumps. A downhill section was a bit treacherous but this was advised & is fine if you are sensible Date of review: July 21, 2007

In short: Good race well organised In full: A good race with a couple of hills which take their toll due to the distance. Well organised, plenty of water stops & enthusiastic marshalls/supporters. Tree dodging on the final main road not the responsiblity of the organisers so that can't take the shine off it. Nice memento Date of review: June 18, 2007

In short: Despite a PB - a very average event In full: Considering the event was ran by 2:09 I was extremely disappointed by the organisation. It seems to me that other events run by runners (or there respective clubs) for runners seem to be much more aware of runners requirements (The little things do count). Joint start for fun runners of whom I saw a couple end up making a big detour onto the HM route. Joint medal for either event ?!. Mile markers way out of place (Granted these are only guides but they should not be used if accuracy is not reasonable). Goody bag queue (For variuos types of water). Worst PA system - A club colleague was injured & taken to first aid - (No ice, so thanks to the improvisation of the first aider who purchased an ice lolly from the ice cream van to cater for this) - 3 announcements for a club colleague were made to collect the injured party of which non of the 30+ colleagues heard an announcement. I was looking for the colleague by trying to get information from the info tent, however this consisted of flers for 2:09. Would have tried checking the baggage tent if there was one. Bigs thanks must go out however to marshalls & helpers who made the best of poor weather & made the best of the circumstances. Please, please just a little more organisation & this would be a very good event. Date of review: May 14, 2007

In short: A little bit of everything In full: Well organised with plenty of everything. Excellent marshaling especially for the "dodgy" areas. Would highly recommend to cross country middle distance runners who fancy a bit more of a challenge. Nice flat last few miles (Although I could have done with being back in the shaded areas at this time) Date of review: April 30, 2007

In short: An excellent race In full: After a year of running on the edge of the Cotswolds my hill training has finally bore fruit. A good mix of hills (Kilcott in the Hogweed Hilly Half - your ***** of a hill title remains intact), water stations in the right places, loads of local support & extremely good organisation. My sincere thanks go out to all involved. Date of review: April 23, 2007

In short: Killcott Hill. The horror, the horror In full: As I Hogweed myself I feel I need to justify giving this a good write up or other "Race raters" may think I am Bias so here are the plus points in no particular order. Scenery, Hills (You were all warned so no excuses or moaning about them), Jelly Babies, plenty of water stations, Worlds shortest marshalls (Well dogs in marshalls jackets) Welcoming cuddly toy - I believe it was one of the muppets - in Hawkesbury, amusing Hogweed territory signs, entrants details at HQ & Loud speaker for supporters to know who you are prior to finishing. Does help a lot when complete strangers know your name & cheer you on at the end, Goodie bag with the main goodie being the bag itself - kit bag - makes a welcome change from the usual medal/t-shirt. Tea, cakes, rolls, free massage. Negative point - I have a sore toe (middle one on the right foot to be more precise) Date of review: March 12, 2007
