In short: Faultless organisation and great value. A really special event.
In full: Thanks to Steyning AC for another wonderful event on the South Downs. The organisation of all aspects of this race is brilliant, from the car park marshalling, registration, on course checkpoints and marshalling to the incredibly effecient and kind people manning the breakfast serving afterwards.

I ran the marathon last year and vowed to run it again as I had enjoyed it so much. So, despite not having done as much training as maybe I should have, I thoroughly enjoyed the views and the pleasant running atmosphere. I ran within a couple of minutes of last years time, so all in all very pleased with myself.

This is a challenging course and should not be underestimated....but it is so rewarding. The views are amazing. We were lucky with the weather today though which helped. If it was raining and windy I am not so sure I would have enjoyed it as much, especially when "up on top".

However, I have had two fab runs in two years so I would heartily recomend this one to runners looking for a well run and good value marathon that offers a challenging but very rewarding run.

In short: What value for money. A nice run with friendly marshalls
In full: First time for me at this particular event. Part of me would like to see more than the 100 or so runners that ran today to make it successfull for H&H and the Hospice, but at the same time the first mile would have been a bit congested if there were twice the number there.

It was our club Grand Prix event so we had a nice post race cake and bun picnic in the sun. Definitely a nice race and, if available, I will be back next year. Thanks everyone involved with this one.

In short: My First time for this race...it won't be the last
In full: What a perfect morning for this scenic jaunt over and around the downs. I found this course to be reasonably challenging, it is defintiely on the hilly side of undulating but it would be boring if all races were pancake flat and involved running for a PB all the time.

The first and last miles were fast downhill with some hill work required regulaly in between. There was plenty of company for me all the way around and a lot of marshalls. It definitely had a nice feel about it.

I was concerned with the road traffic to begin with (waiting by the side of the busy road ready to jump out onto the road for the start 20 seconds before the off doesn't bode well), but didn't have any problems thereafter.

As I was new to this one and was entering on the day, I didn't find much information on the website about either the course, the profile or where the start/finish was exactly. More info along with being able to sign up for the race via the web could boost numbers, but then I am not sure if the numbers doubled whether the Sunday morning drivers could cope. A few more signs for the start could help also.

Overall, I will definitely do this one again next year. Please pass on my thanks to the Organsing team and all of those marshalls.

In short: This event is amazing. The organisation is phenomenal with the course impeccably marked for just 30 odd runners through a staggeringly beautiful route. The Weekend has everything. Thank you Stragglers.
In full: This was my third year running of the Green Belt Relay. It has become the running highlight of the year for me and I can not rate the organisation and scenic course high enough.

While a race, and I was certainly racing, the atmosphere among fellow runners was great and on my second leg yesterday in the pouring rain I had a fabulous run with Elmbridge's runner...we pushed/pulled each other around in a time that was four minutes under my hoped for time (and his). This was the day after having run a tough half marathon distance leg through hilly Berkshire.

If your reading this and have not run the GBR...make a note of it and get a team together for next year. I promise you that you will not regret it!!

In short: A flat and fast course with a lot of fast club runners...A "race of two halfs" with the outward road 5km and back along the Towpath
In full: The light rain made the running very pleasant and the slightly down hill first 5 km on the road allowed a good pace to be had albeit with little scenery. The second half back along the towpath took the mind off the effort. Definitely a race of "Two Halfs".

While not a PB for me, the time was respectable and I did enjoy the run out (I did a fast 6 miler on Friday so could expect too much). Nice medals (1st 100 get gold, second hundred get silver and the remainder get bronze). Good value race with good marshalling. Fair points on signs for the start but we did have a Map to show where Parking and Start was. Will definite do it again next year

In short: A Very Enjoyable race..I will be back next year
In full: I would put this in my top 10 races of the year. It was the first time I have run it, but it is very well organised and marshalled. The results were fast and efficiently put on the web opn the same day as the race. I missed a coule of mile markers and the 10th Mile marker definietly seemed to be at the wrong place...but these are minor comments and shouldn't detract from the overall positive feel I had for the event. Thanks go to the Organisers and marshalls. Well done !

In short: Despite the crowds and transport issues ...I would do this one again
In full: The course is a fast one and having done it three years in a row, I have learnt to plan around the limitations of the transport...We stayed for £40 a head (including breakfast) at the 4* Madjeski stadium. A relaxing shuttle to the start and then chance for a nice show er and relax in the warm afterglow while the crowds subside. Will be back again next year.

In short: A challenging course ...I can't rember seeing many flat bits...you are either going up or down, but very satisfying. Parking and organisation is very good and at £6 (including a nice long sleeve T-shirt) this is a bargain. Will be back for more !
