In short: Magnificent trail run, but short of the 13.1 miles In full: My husband did the half marathon, and according to his garmin was only 12.3 miles in length. His 'pb' confirmed this, as did my sat nav phone app. I did the full marathon, the second half of which is the half marathon route. Apart from the dodgy measuring the route and organisation was spectacular. A great event for walkers and runners, starting at Avebury (or Charlton Clumps if you are doing the half) and finishing at Stonehenge. The half marathon route was hard packed trails which were firm underfoot to say the least. Lots of water stations and a wonderful goody bag at the end. Super friendly atmosphere. The first half of the full marathon route was grassy and hilly and an absolute delight. Well done Wiltshire Wildlife Trust for putting this event on - and this was its 25th year. We'll be back! In short: An outstanding event In full: Yet another wonderful Bath Beat. Excellent navigation instructions and homemade cakes + tea at the checkpoints. I love the ethos - designed for walkers and runners or all standards with proceeds to worthy causes. Super event. Date of review: April 8, 2013

In short: Good muddy fun - thoroughly enjoyable In full: lots of hills, woodland trails, mud (but not as bad as i thought it might be with all the recent rain), well marked route, friendly marshals, reindeer socks and mince pie at the end. What's not to like? Date of review: December 2, 2012

In short: 80 hilly miles that test the runner in every sense In full: It isn't a race, it's a challenge...and challenging it was. I enjoyed the first 2 days and was pleasantly surprised to complete the second marathon in a faster time that the first. Day 3, however, was hideous! Torrential rain and rocky boggy terrain was too much for my knees...had to walk the last 10 miles. This will be my first and last ultra. Don't let that put you off - it's an amazing thing to do. No regrets. Date of review: October 22, 2012

In short: A demanding but scenic and well-organised half marathon In full: A super race, even on a hot day. Very hilly, but that just means the smile is even bigger at the finish. Well organised and marshaled, excellent goody bag. Hats off to the organisers making such a complicated route traffic free. Brilliant support from the people of Frome and villages, and a few welcome cool-downs from garden hosepipes on route. Terrific. Date of review: July 22, 2012

In short: The most fun cross country event ever! In full: Yet another superb Mashup. This really is a favourite event. Stunning scenery in the wilder side of the Mendip Hills, great company, family friendly, free beer (the winner's weight in beer is shared out) and funds for a really good cause - Cystic Fibrosis Trust, in memory of a little girl called Lizzie. The Somer Fillies romped home with a respectable 340 points, which is an improvement on last year, but still 200 short of the win! We'll be back with a better route plan next year..... In short: You even get to see the Kenyans coz they lap you at mile 4. Brilliant! In full: Lovely day, great atmosphere, supportive crowds and marshals, and best of all you get to see the Kenyans sprint past you on their second lap. Worth coming just for that! This year I made it to mile 4 before being lapped - an improvement! Better organisation than in previous years (although I didn't use the park and ride this time)and a great goody bag - best one I've ever had (running magazine, museli bar, fruit bar, lots of freebies including blister packs, foot cream, body lotion AND a very welcome Mars bar, Yum! In short: Enjoyable, despite the awful weather. In full: Very pleasant route from Melksham, around National Trust village of Lacock and back to Melksham along country roads. Undulating rather than the flat PB material described. Well marshalled, although could do with a few more signs (car parks, race HQ, "slow runners ahead" that sort of thing) but well done for putting on a successful inaugral race. In short: sun, sand and icy roads In full: Gloriously sunny day, wet sand was hard work as expected, but icy roads were very slippery. Glad to reach the finish upright! Well organised, some great costumes - well done Santa and his team of reindeers... Date of review: December 5, 2010
