In short: Not very scarey but well-organized In full: A bit of tarmac and a lot of trails. Very well-marked (LED lights at regular intervals) and well signed/marshalled. All the marshals very friendly and encouraging. Mile markers and one water station with bottles, which is very useful. Chip timing for accurate and fast results. Not particularly scary, unless you'd never run off-road or in the dark. The only gripe was the lack of signs for car parks when you turned off the main road. Date of review: February 10, 2013

In short: Definitely not flat, but excellent scenery! In full: Brilliant organization, everything went very smoothly. Lovely scenery, with a lot of the race through Clumber Park. First mile uphill, but at least that's the last mile downhill as well (and lots more undulations in between). Lots of friendly marshals, name checks for most finishers as they crossed the line, and a technical t-shirt as part of the price. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Flat, good mix of trail and road, nicely scenic - fantastic mug to boot In full: Overall a very nice race, well-organised with friendly organisers and enthusiastic marshalls. Unfortunately wo things spoiled it for me. You could only hear the starting gun if you were right at the front (although the race organiser will add more speakers towards the back next year), so not the best motivation at the start of a race. The race is also chip timed, and this is publicised as being for the benefit of the runner, but it's only gun to mat, not mat to mat, and we're still waiting for the results nearly 24 hours later. I can't really see how this is for the benefit of the runner! I got a PB, however, and I'll probably be back next year for another go. Date of review: September 12, 2011

In short: like running in an oven! In full: Tough but different. A lot of running in water/very rippled sand, and the Kent crossing was interesting. Fantastic marshals and great water provision, except for one stretch near the Kent crossing. Date of review: July 2, 2006

In short: Killer hills but great scenery and friendly organisation In full: It's shorter than the advertised 10 miles (9.35 by my Garmin), but the course was well-marked and scenic. Killer hills, but nice downhills to balance them out. Couldn't find the advertised post-race refreshments though (maybe I was too slow?). Date of review: March 27, 2006

In short: Great way to finish off the year. In full: Better organisation than last year, especially the start. Finish seems less hectic, although some of the people handing out t-shirts were a little over-zealous in checking people's sizes! Traffic wasn't as hazardous, marshals were friendly as ever. Entry price is a bit steep now, and chipping it but making you pay for the results is rather cheeky. Date of review: November 28, 2004

In short: Excellent - just missed a pb and thoroughly enjoyed myself. In full: I'll definitely be back next year to beat my time, and the t-shirt with my name on the back is a really nice touch. Date of review: November 1, 2004

In short: Hard work, glorious scenery, well organised and great atmosphere. In full: Never done a fell race before, but ran this one with a friend. We were the last two runners, and the guy collecting up the marking tape caught up with us on the way round, but was incredibly encouraging and supportive, and we got a big cheer from the welcoming committee at the Fleece. The route was well-marked, the organisation and support was brilliant - I'd recommend it for anyone trying this kind of run for the first time, and we will be back next year. Full marks to Keighley and Craven! Date of review: October 10, 2004
