In short: 10k race tough and badly measured In full: I ran the 10k race and was mainly disappointed due to 2 issues 1) Incorrect measurement and signage. My Garmin 610 measured it at 10.5km, as did Gmaps the next day. The KM markers were inaccurate to - the 1km marker measured about 1.2km by my GPS and confirmed by my pace - I was a good minute longer than normal for a km. Shoddy work really 2) No water in the race bags - instead some godawful energy drink that I couldn;t touch. Had to hunt round the stalls to find one giving out glasses of water
The route itself is varied - flat first 1km or so, then 2.5 km straight uphill without a break, flat to 4km then a sharp downhill to 5km before a lovely flat 2nd half into finish. Plenty of encouragement but some of the marshalling was a bit suspect. The bit at the end of the Long Mile was very narrow making it almost impossible to overtake Date of review: November 28, 2012
