In short: An event worth supporting In full: A scenic course passing through one of the most beautiful parks in the north of England, despite the small slope. Excellent medal and t-shirt. An unusual start from the covered market place in the centre of Preston. Date of review: September 28, 2015
In short: Highly recommended In full: Having completed this race twice before I much preferred the previous return route through the parks. However I do not decry the new route as the finish in the town centre was preferable to the previous finish in the park. Anyone entering this event should be aware that the first half is predominantly mildly uphill whist the return is downhill - much the preferred way around. I applaud the event organisers extra event , that is the one mile fun run around the town centre. I was mortified, amused and pleased that many young kids passed me on the way to the finish line! Medals and t-shirts were excellent and if you entered the half marathon or 10K event and the one mile fun run you ended up with 2 t-shirts and 3 medals !!!!!! It was an early Christmas. And what is more , they were all of a good substantial design. Highly recommended. Date of review: September 24, 2015
In short: An excellent event In full: I have nothing to complain about as the event was good. The course was mildly challenging and the parts where other competitors were seen coming the other way was a bonus - that is , you knew where you were in the scheme of things. The marshalls were excellent and encouraging. The village was good with a variety of food outlets which appeared to be doing a roaring trade. However -two points of concern which I hope the organisers take on board for next years event. 1 - the t-shirts were cotton ???? 2 - AGISM RULES !!!!!!! Whatever happened to the prizes for the 60+ and 70+ ??????? Come on guys , running does not cease at 50 !!!! Date of review: August 19, 2015
In short: A special event In full: Any one interested in running events should partake for the experience of the Stadium and the surrounding park. The course was crowded and narrow in places but what the hell the experience was the thing !!!
In short: This is the best route of the series In full: A late start in coldish conditions. Well organised as usual with enthusiastic marshalls. A good medal which is themed throughout the series Well worth supporting Date of review: June 29, 2015
In short: Well organised event worth a visit In full: I completed this event last year and was not disappointed this year Two minor quibbles however - 1 - the baggage store was not advertised which could be considered next year - I was found a space in the reception room but this was open to the general public 2 - please rethink the medal - the rubber/plastic one left a lot to be desired! Apart from the above an event recommended. Date of review: June 22, 2015
In short: Nothing adverse about this race apart from - In full: How can an organisation like Asda get the number of t-shirts wrong ?????? When I completed the race with my wife with over 600 competitors behind us no medium or small t-shirts were available ??? What went wrong? If on entering the event each applicant states the size of t-shirt required simple arithmetic resolves the problem. Perhaps the organisers should adopt the policy of some other races which I have completed when the t-shirt size is shown on the race number? It was obvious that either the organisers order wrong or competitors were demanding sizes which they had not ordered. I await Leeds???? Good medal though!
In short: Brilliant In full: I have completed this race for the last few years. The weather was glorious this time being both sunny and cool. The medal was the best yet. This is a lovely little outing on a holiday weekend. Long may it continue. Date of review: April 7, 2015
In short: Good event In full: Excellent crowd support Best Tomlinson medal yet Good quality shirt Transfer buses were not signed or seen No signage to guide non Lincoln residents back to car parks Otherwise an excellent event in superb weather Date of review: March 23, 2015
In short: Lessons will be learnt ? In full: An unusual venue worth a looking at. Parking and facilities were good as would be expected in a national theme park. Organisation was good and some marshalls were very supportive. However points of concern were that when threading through the park several pinch points existed - no worry if you were at the back but not ideal if in the pack. The race distance, supposedly 10k was way out being only 5.7miles ????? The "gold" medal was the worst medal I have ever received with a self adhesive paper cut out on its face. This review is not a criticism but constructive advice for the organisers if the event is run again.
