In short: Ecclesall Road makes this race
In full: The Pros: Plenty of free parking; a good medal and technical t-shirt (and sweatband!); brilliant support along Ecclesall Road
The Cons: Late start; the toilet situation at Don Valley

In short: Great local race
In full: This was my first ever 5 mile race and as it is on my doorstep it seemed foolish not to enter. The organisation was great with very good marshalling and I was made to feel very welcome by Boston and District Athletic Club, so much so I may even join the club. A flat scenic course, the only downside was the headwind. A British legion medal at he end rounded the event off nicely.

In short: Beautiful scenery
In full: This was my first Clumber 10k trail run and I was a bit apprehensive due to the recent weather, but other than a couple of muddy spots I needn't have worried. Friendly staff ensured that this went off without a hitch although as other reviewers have mentioned it was a bit of a trek from the carpark to the registration area/start line. However that shouldn't detract from a in places challenging course through stunning scenery.

In short: Small but perfectly formed!
In full: This was my first go at this race and what a pleasant surprise. It's only a small field but the organisation is excellent. A very rural course that is exposed in places (that wind!), but well marshalled and signposted. The encouraging words from all the Marshall's was most welcome. A flat and fast course with definite PB potential. I'll definitely be back.

In short: Nice route and a great medal
In full: As others have said it was a bit congested at the start but the announcer did make laugh when they said that runners weren't allowed to wear MPods or IP3 players..! A nice route through the historic centre and a quality medal at the end.

In short: First Half Marathon
In full: Fantastic atmosphere on Ecclesall Road, really made my day. The slog back from the city to the stadium is tough going, and is very cruel to see the stadium and realise that you still have a mile or so to do.

In short: Small scale and friendly with it
In full: This was my first time running the Woodhall Spa 10k and I was a little apprehensive due to previous years reviews. However, there were plenty of stewards and everything seemed well organised. The course was a scenic canter through the countryside although there was traffic to contend with during the race, but this was infrequent and caused no problems.

There were a couple of water stations which were welcome as when the sun came out it was very warm. There was a great atmosphere at the finish and everyone received a medal and a t shirt, along with a bottle of water.

Everyone seemed friendly. There were a lot of club runners for the size of the field (just less than a 1000) and these were predominately local (Sleaford and Lincoln) not that there's anything wrong with that of course!

An enjoyable morning's racing, and I'd definitely do it again :-)
