In short: A fantastic marathon but maybe not the wisest debut choice!
In full: I picked the Bewl Water Marathon as my debut because I'm not a fan of big city, high numbers of runners events & I thought that the two lap format would be useful heading into the final miles. In hindsight it might not have been the most sensible decision but you can't fault the organisation, the course or the other runners. A reasonable amount of chat from everyone all the way round, plenty of encouragement from the marshals, excellent scenery & a downhill finish (always nice) made for a fantastic first experience.

Despite my background of trail running the course was a bit more challenging than I'd anticipated, that final big hill was a killer at 24 miles, but the HUGE medal and cracking T-Shirt made the final effort worth it. Even inspired me to muster a sprint finish!

I'd certainly run it again (although perhaps not next year) but for anyone planning to do it the only advice I'd give is that you need to be prepared to run a lot of the course on your own as numbers are limited & given the nature of the course the support away from the start/finish line tends to be quite thin!

In short: A fantastic event just like the whole Trionium Series. Tough enough to make you work for it but achievable & you'll be glowing with pride at the end
In full: A fantastic run this year. The snow, the cold, this could have been mid-winter but it all added to a fantastic event. The knee deep puddles (for those that failed to avoid them) added a new dimension but the hills as always kept it interesting, both up & down. A hearty congratulations to everyone who got up and ran it, regardless of time. As the T-Shirt says, it was 'Tough Enough'.

In short: An excellent half marathon & with the stadium finish it makes it very memorable. Route would be 5* if not for the do leg at the end.

In short: A tough series of hills but highly rewarding at the finish. One to remember for the views & not the pain!
In full: Excellent organisation as always for an ETL race. Would certainly do it again & they even organised some amazing weather (even if it was a bit damp underfoot).

In short: Fantastic as always & a pleasure to run every year
In full: As always a cracking race was put on by Leatherhead Firestation. Same route as ever but it's nice to revisit the same ground, you know what's coming! A thumping PB this year & the weather was truly glorious to boot. Roll on the same in 2013.

In short: Excruciating enjoyment & smile on everyone's face at the end. If it doesn't hurt you're not having fun!
In full: Absolutely awesome! Fantastic race Dr Bob, I loved every second of it...once I'd reached the pub afterwards and sunk a pint. Will definitely be back next year!
