In short: Organisational shambles! In full: Lets start with the plus points. Lovely Medal, great free physio after, quite scenic and challenging
This was let down by awful organisation! Venue could not cope with the numbers. Queues for toilets/bad drop/numbers was terrible (with nobody assisting!) No obvious start line so people missed the timing mats. Cars in the start pen. Marshals on mobile, at one turning about 6miles the Marshals dog was running about and tripped a runner up! Return to bag drop to find bags left in middle of hall with anybody able to take it. No goody bag and had to ask to get water/cereal bar and not handed out. Overall a really big let down of what could have been a great run! Date of review: January 25, 2016
In short: Brilliant race from start to finish - except that bloody hill! In full: Great day out - brilliant organisation and set up. Route a good mix of villages, country roads and more rural. Spring Hill is tough, very tough but something about it makes you wanna sign up for next year just to crack that hill! Great medal and nice technical top! As Arnie says ........... "i'll be back!" In short: Race description better than the actual day! In full: In a word - disappointing! Registration in a pub which is too small to house people - therefore queuing in cold for 20mins before race! No signs for toilets in the capark so massive queue for one pub toilet!
The race - well if that's flat (as billed in the description) then I'm Mo Farah! Granted it wasn't really hilly but you cant sell the race as flat and then have hills like the one at 8-9miles! Crossed the line - handed a medal by a child (no problem with that) but never saw any water, Jaffa cakes, bananas etc! During the race - not many people cheering you on. Allegedly ran through numerous villages but it just felt like one long continuos country lane (very monotonous). Water stations poorly prepared - never understand why they are frantically pooring water into cups as you run past! Did they not expect 400 odd runners to be passing through between given times? All in all it could have been so much better, or maybe journalistic licence made the pre-race description more interesting than it could manifest! Would I come back next year? Probably but mainly due to location not due to the organisation! PS - 18hrs later - no finish times released. This is computer operated and the information is available to upload as soon as the final runner crossed the line! I'd much rather know my time that afternoon/evening than a day or two later! In short: Could be much better! In full: Not a bad race - 3 laps of the track causes problems with the faster runners overlapping the slower ones. 4 laps of the same square park is mind numbing and too repetative! The queue at the finish line for medal and Tshirt was pathetic! 2 people handing out bags but one poor man individually searching for tshirts in correct size and then handing each 2 leaflets is very poor organising!
Also only race I have done that doesnt give water/fruit at the finish line!!
Will come back next year but only becuase its so local for me. Wouldnt travel to do this event! Date of review: January 13, 2014
