In short: Great race with a combination of great banter and a fast course In full: The pre-race organisation for this was excellent with a great website, detailed emails and regular facebook updates. It was a nice touch to email at 6.40am to confirm that the weather was ok! It was a shame that the start was delayed, but at least we were inside. Great atmosphere around the course. Personally I would prefer a more central start/finish so that supporters can both drop/ collect runners and watch the middle bit of the race (similar to the route taken by the AgeUK organisers last spring), but I understand that with 2500 runners it would be hard to organise and there would be a loss of facilities. The field size is spot on for this race- not too busy that you can't move, but plenty of company running round. I think if it got any bigger it would be helpful to have more groups at the beginning (i.e. sub 40, 40-50, 50-60, 60+) as I know from other races I've done that can help ease the congestion at the beginning. In short: Amazing atmosphere and fantastic marshals despite the awful weather In full: I didn't know what to expect as this was my first HM (having done a few 10ks) and the weather was awful. The organisation beforehand was excellent, although I would have rather have paid a couple of pounds more and had my race pack posted out. Free parking was a nice touch, although I didn't use it as there was plenty of free on street parking. I was able to leave bags easily in the guild hall (and picked them up very quickly at the end) and the race started on time. The atmosphere was great all the way round and there seemed a nice number of runners- there was plenty of people about but there weren't any problems overtaking or anything. The marshals were very encouraging as we went passed and there were plenty of water stations. It was unfortunate that the distance was slightly wrong, but hats off to the organisers for being so transparent and apologetic about it. My only slight gripe was at the end it was very cold and I really struggled to find someone to get a foil blanket from which I needed, and a few people asked me where I'd got it from so obviously others were in a similar position. But I was then able to sit in the Guild hall and have a cup of tea to warm up and there were changing and shower facilities. I would definitely do it again if it was repeated.
