In short: Brilliant race, you must do it once! In full: Pre Race - Quite nicely everything is now at the start area of the race rather than being at the car park.
Race - Hard course (there are 7 hard hills that will sap your legs - double if you do the 24k), however amazing scenery, amazing marshals, amazing other runners. And some of the downhills and flats are rapid. I posted a 02:38 but can normally easily run a 24k in 02:15.
Finish - A nice medal, and as much fruit, water and cake as you can handle. And great post race feeling and camaraderie with other runners.
Conclusion: Great race, which if you are a trail runner you must do once. After this race your legs will hurt but you will never fear a hill again. Date of review: July 9, 2013
In short: Issues with course but otherwise a good race... In full: I'm sure this will be mentioned in other reviews but the main issue was the lack of directions at the start of the race that meant everyone ended up going the wrong way and adding half a km to their race.
The race is quite flat on roads and down the rive path, so room for speed but there are a few bottlenecks and pedestrians that can slow you up and also the up down element from the river. Scenery was nice for a run in London down and round a couple of rivers and nice parts of London town. Marshals were good and smiley.
Organisation was good the only disappointing aspects were t-shirts (not enough smalls), but results were prompt. Date of review: July 5, 2013
In short: Great little 12 hour race In full: Easyish (bus or a taxi) to get to from Cambridge if you wish to leave the car. Great value for money with good food, good bag at the end (bottle, medal, t-shit and certificate).
Route was quite nice, trail but very flat with no real narrow points and some fast track if dry. And the lake was beautiful when running round early
Organisation was perfect with food, and checking laps. I wouldn't run again because I don't want to do a 12 hour race again but if you want to do one in your life do this one. Date of review: July 1, 2013
In full: The race is all on road bar a grass section at the start and finsh. Some hard hills but not impossible to run up and due to the out and back nature you can regain the time with aggressive downhill running.
Race was well organised but would have been nice to have had a photographer. Date of review: July 1, 2013
In short: Great marathon for someone chasing a time or not confident enough to go point to point In full: One lap = one mile, race 26 laps after a .2 start.
Excellent facilities of the sports centre which had ample parking, showers and cafe. On site for the marathon; table for drinks, water, gels and energy drink that where available every mile and toliets at every mile.
Decent course with a few narrow points on the grass and small gradient change. You won't get that big marathon feel but the people around will cheer you on nicely. You will be lapped but will also lap people which means you see people again and again in a nice way. Nice pricegiving at the end.
In short: Disappointing in parts, decent in others... In full: Some lovely scenery on the wall and along the river. Route was hard at points and very roady but you needed trail trainers for some segements.
Marshalling was poor in some places with them not aware of distances. Not enough signage at the end, which was hard for an expert finishing without support. Food at pitstops was very samey. Great camaraderie with other runners.
Staff at end and facilities were excellent. Date of review: June 30, 2013
In short: Great marshals, decent course, would do it again... In full: A nice local village run, great marshals, small medal but price is fantastic. Friendly runners with you. You can use the village hall to change and kit.
Run takes you out of Kingham and up one hill, down another hill, along a road, into and round another village uphill/downhill (water), run back to Kingham (water 2) going uphill and downhill and repeat. Finish is on the green which means a sharp turn and small scramble onto the green. Date of review: June 30, 2013
In short: There isn't much scenery for this race as your doing laps around the cyclopark. Only three hills (two small ones) on each laps whcih makes iit n In full: Organisation was fantastic bar a little confusion regarding baggage but there are plenty of lockers. The goody bag was perfect with a great medal and good past race food. The ability to shower is brilliant post race. The system of lap counting they use is most ingenious.
I want to run this again next year to achieve another pb on this course. Date of review: June 2, 2013
