In short: Great aside from the weather In full: This race is as local as it could get for me so it's always on my calender. The last 3 or 4 years have been really hot although I'm never prepared for it.
Nice medal although I've got 4 the same now - maybe time for a new design?
There was great support along the majority of the route and I really like the finishing stretch with loads of spectators cheering.
I think there should be an Autumn race running the course in reverse as nearly everyone thinks the current course is uphill nearly all of the way! Date of review: June 15, 2006

In short: Nice T-Shirt, Great course & Organisation! In full: This race was really well marshalled who were very supportive - they were everywhere - "KEEP TO THE LEFT!" I like the idea of having a smaller second lap - it makes it less daunting. I picked up my finisher T-Shirt beforehand which I didn't really want to do as I think it's better to be rewarded after an achievement - I didn't want to be stuck with one that didn't fit at the end, afterall this is 1 running T-shirt that will be worn regularly!
I got just past 18 miles before I had to run/walk the rest - which means I've got 3 weeks to find an extra 8 miles for London (hmmm!). Date of review: April 3, 2006

In short: Brrrrrrrrrr - I was expecting to find snow at the top of the hill! In full: First race of the year and it felt really good!
It may have been a mistake running in the thinnest of T-shirts and shorts but I did thaw out after about 3km. Great support from the locals (the ones that weren't shooting the runners).
I didn't find the hills a problem and seemed to be running downhill for much of the race. Date of review: January 23, 2006

In short: Great Race - Nice Medal - New PB In full: This was the first December race I have ever run (I usually hibernate Sept-Mar) and despite the low winter sun which was blinding in places it was a really scenic pleasant race. I turned up a tad late and had to rush to the start so missed meeting the "Green Tinsel Army". I'm going to love tucking into my Xmas Pud on Christmas Day! Date of review: December 12, 2005

In short: 10th Half - and a PB by 8 minutes! In full: This was a fantastic day - The course, weather, fellow runners and the way my body felt all helped make this a memorable day! I was pretty sure I could break my current PB which had stood for 3 years. I think I started too quick and kept saying to myself - "At the next mile marker - I should probably ease off for a while to save my energy." However, I never felt the need and actually ran a negative split for the first time! It was such a contrast from the GNR only 3 weeks ago!
Will definitely be back next year! Date of review: October 10, 2005

In short: My 7th year and although it was too hot - it was still a great day! In full: Anything above 10k makes me understand the meaning of training - I've trained twice since June and it showed! I had to walk for a mile between 11-12 and eventually crossed the line in 1hr 57secs. Well done to everyone involved who makes the race the success that it is! Date of review: September 20, 2005

In short: Great race for runners of all abilities In full: I love this race and take part every year (partly because I live 200m off the course). I love the way that everyone is made to feel welcome, There's not many 10k's in the area (I can't think of any) that have 2,300 entrants. The organisation was great and a nice spangly medal. Shame I missed the start by 8 minutes but my official time was still 56 mins which I was happy with. Date of review: June 14, 2005

In short: 8th Running at the track (including two 1/2marathons) - Still a fantastic date in the running calendar! In full: I managed to knock 1min 29secs off my previous "course record". Many Thanks to the guy who came flying past me at 5 miles - I used him as a pacemaker (which probably made the last mile 45 seconds quicker)
It would be nice to receive a medal for finishing - I'd be willing to pay a higher entry fee to cover the costs. Date of review: May 5, 2005

In short: Nice winter run - plenty of mud, fog, hills......water! In full: This race seems to be more enjoyable the wetter it is - I think it's great to see fellow runners struggle on a hard-going course. The water is great fun and the steps at the end a killer. Will be back for a 4th time next year.
Well done to everyone who 'survived' Date of review: November 23, 2004

In short: The atmosphere of the FLM without having to hit the wall. In full: This was my 6th running of the GNR and it is still the highlight of my year - knowing that I can get a guaranteed entry makes it a perfect way to reap the rewards of all the training (sometimes lack of) through the summer. Will be back next year with a fairly average 1hr 53mins to break. Date of review: September 29, 2004
