In short: poorly organised and expensive In full: Race pack postage underpaid so had to pick mine up from post office as did 300 other runners at a cost of £1.11 and a 38 mile round trip to the post office. Ankle timing chip cut into my skin with chafing during the race. Road closures welcome but when 1100 runners are in a pack and cones are in the middle of the road people are inevitably going to trip over them, which I saw. Goody bag was a cheap crap bag with the medal inside, that's it. Tshirt is practically threadbare it's so thin material. Most unforgiveable is cutting 0.6mile off the distance and being, thus far, totally unapologetic. Shan't run again until I hear of VAST improvements in organisation. Route needs looking at too, 90 degree corners at the start and narrow gates with 1100 runners is not good. Date of review: June 23, 2015
In short: If you do this, DO NOT book in advance... In full: As title, if you do this race don't book it in advance. Wait and see what the weather is doing beforehand because if it has rained before,or is forecast to on the day, then plenty of the stretches of this race (mostly narrow and steep trail tracks) will become extremely slippy underfoot. It was dry this year and people were still all over the place.
Organisation on the day was fine though beforehand was not good. Unanswered emails etc when I asked three times for the course map (i got a response in the end).
Low runner turnout which lessens the atmosphere somewhat.
Advertised as undulating though I would call it hilly at 1320ft of ascent.
As it was the Much Wenlock Olympian Society I was expecting (probably somewhat hopefully) something other than a bog standard medal.
Scenery was pretty. Well stocked drink and food stations and friendly marshals, of which there were plenty. Date of review: May 17, 2015
In short: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - NEVER BOOK WITH PEAK PERFORMANCE EVENTS In full: As above. Avoid at all costs unless you are a magician who can magic up adequate toilet facilities, competent marshals and correct signage, then you might be ok. A good race if you feel like guessing the route halfway round. These chaps have a thoroughly well deserved reputation for putting on terribly organised events. Date of review: November 2, 2014
In short: Good race, well organised, good goody bag In full: Good run overall but the view wasnt the best, alot of housing estate and a long length of the bypass. Unsure why it was called the Bridgnorth SEVERN run as, apart from glimpsing the river twice as we crossed it, it appeared to have very little to do with the Severn. This was a disappointment as it was the main reason I'd booked. Ah well. Very random items in the goody bag, including six heinz sauce sachets... not unwelcome, just odd.
Well organised, marshalls everywhere. Timing appeared on the web almost instantly as far as i could see.
I would do it again, but based on how well organised it was but don't expect much scenery. Date of review: October 26, 2014
In short: Booked for the city aspect of it. Course changed to rural lanes at great disappointment In full: Changing to a rural route ruined this for me. I run on lanes everyday. Didn't want to do it for an event. The route was ok but not as originally advertised. Shame Date of review: August 17, 2014
