Folks

I have incorporated aqua running into my training even though i am not injured.Locally we have the Terry Nelson method with flotation suits and the session is a high intensity session for 1 hour.

Bearing in mind the intensity of this (but non weight bearing) do you reckon that this would go down as a seession or can you do this then a speed session the next day on the road/track.

Andrew, I welcome your opinion but runners need strength, look at what Salatzar said about Mo when he first came to Portland.

"Alberto said I ran like a girl. I didn't use my arms when I was sprinting. When I was tired I was all over the place. I was weak. We strengthened my core, my weight, running on the underwater treadmill, the gravity, the chamber that freezes you. I did all that to get stronger,"

Like all research or opinion you always get two sides but a quick ten mins a few times a week should do more good than bad.

Sawney Bean has been doing cross country all winter, no proper road racing. Feel stronger but times will tell, now after working on prep for half marathon this year it got cancelled so I am not going to try and chase another half this Winter/Spring.

Beach running today 2 sets of 4 x 800.

Anybody coming up for National XC in Sunderland or Masters XC at same location?

you need targets for the year. I usually say I want 1.15 rather than sub 1.16 etc etc.

I was targeting 1.15 at Brass Monkey Half last week but it was cancelled so I am going to concentrate on 10k/5k now for the next few months.

Targets are important as they help you tune your training towards the goal.

Good luck everyone for their 2013 goals.
