Hi C5, I survived, thanks for asking! The rain was torrential for most of thebike which made things tricky and really cold - I didn't help my cause by forgetting to put on a jacket to start the bike, so nearly bailed and had to detour back into transition after one v cold lap, to put on two more layers! I still love this event, despite having been 20 mins slower than last year and spending most of the race just wanting it to be over.
Sounds similar to most years! Well done on finding something positive out of it
Last year's event? was cold, wet and windy - the bike was being blown down the racking. I PB'd but decided that despite being an iconic event it can probably cope without any future attendance from me. I'm a cyclist these days and don't have the run legs for it.
Ah, I see Bus. Yes, now you mention it, I do vaguely remember the meeting the whole club had where we agreed to arrange the dates so as to be as inconvenient to you as possible. It was a constructive meeting, and we had Jammie Dodgers afterwards.
I may be doing Bramley, my wife has signed up for Wokingham. Unless I find a babysitter, I won't be able to run it. I think I will be targeting Reading HM for a proper PB attempt. I should be able to beat this year's Wokingham PB from Dach's Annus Ventus.
I've just realised what irritates me so much about Phil's mate Vassos Alexander, it's his persistently clumsy attempts at alliteration on his stupid segment.
Surely the main reason not to do Watford is that it's in Watford?
I think Fleet will be faster than Reading and probably more pleasant to be at.
