In short: Tough run but great organisation and course
In full: My own fault - but I did underestimate this a bit having run 60ish half marathons over the years and it was a last minute decision to enter. The course was excellent (13.6m with my garmin but couldn't care less about that). 1.9m of steady climb is a long way up (especially twice as two loops) and fast descent afterwards. Lovely scenery and very well marshalled with lots of water and jelly babies too !

In short: Great low key new run that will thrive - a must do if you like off road and scenery
In full: Very well organised and friendly village off road event despite the challenge of bank holiday rain :-) Undulating not overly hilly, gorgeous scenery even in the pouring rain and enjoyable run with great refreshments (cakes esp fab !) at the end. I hope this becomes an annual event and it will grow rapidly if so. Thanks to all.

In short: A great experience, night time, hilly and hard as it says on the tin, but super friendly
In full: Really well organised smallish (80ish runners) race requiring head-torches and strong quads for those beach pebbles and seemingly never-ending staircase :-) Fantastic location and atmosphere on a glorious evening. Excellent night-time marshalling. Terrific organisation AVR - Thanks and I'll definitely be back.

In short: Good event, solid all round with great organisation and marshalling
In full: I've run this one several times now along with many others and it's just the close proximity of the traffic in parts that prevents this from scoring much higher. The Stonehouse to Standish loop is the highlight and there were again excellent marshalls and organisation. Much improved Tee this year too and a happy atmosphere from all I could see. I'll be back again.

In short: Great off-road race in gorgeous scenery
In full: Be prepared for some hills, but will be rewarded with glorious scenery. Great friendly run in an excellent atmosphere with a water stop/jelly babies and good friendly marshalling on the course. Needs someone in the car park field Guys or some people will block others in :-) Fantastic value with engraved glass souvenir. My 3rd time this year and well worth the journey to get there for me. Thanks !

In short: Loved this last time and it was even better in 2011
In full: If you are up to the hills, then make this a "must-do" race for 2012. Outstanding organisation and friendly marshalling. Hilly - as it says on the tin ! but fantastic views from the cotswold edge run along minor roads. Plenty of water, with a bonus of jelly babies and fruit at one point. Very fair price with a good Tee in a generous goody bag. Easy parking. Great post race spread at good prices - this is the way to organise a race by runners for runners. Very impressed all round. This should be up in the 2011 awards section come the end of the year. Well done to all.

In short: Hilly, friendly run through lovely villages.
In full: My second year at this one and will be back again. Don't underestimate this one on warm days. Well organised although I agree a sign to the start from the main car park would help firt timers. Cheery marshalls and once at the top of the 2 mile drag nearing 9.5m then all downhill/flat from there. Very good value and nice LS Tee shirt too. Also a nice change to be a Saturday 6pm start.

In short: Great event, excellent organisation
In full: I last did this in 2006 and it has improved dramatically with a much more interesting and varied course through country lanes. I wouldn't call it particularly hilly, but I do live in the Cotswolds. Excellent organisation, lots of friendly marshalls and more than plenty of water stops on a warm day. Thanks to all those volunteers who worked so hard. Nice tee-shirt too and the small things like free face painting for kids on the day was a nice touch.

In short: Outstanding race, terrific organisation on all aspects
In full: I must have done 50+ half marathons (and countless other distances) now and this outshone them all. Full marks to Bob and the Hogweeds team for a brilliantly handled event. Great route with more than ample warning of the challenging course, clear instructions and remarkably friendly marshalls all round. This was my Hogweeds debut and will certainly be back for more. It struck me as a running event organised by runners for runners even through to the car parking and catering at the end. Would thoroughly recommend this event.

In short: Great event, spoilt by one marshall and unlucky with the weather
In full: Glos AC should invest in a megaphone - I'd say at least 30% of the 600(?) field couldn't hear a word at the start-line briefing. Good fairly flat course well signed and organised ... however the marshall who gave out warnings for running more than 2 abreast needs his eyes testing. I totally support the marshalls and the necessary rules but do object to being picked out when there were only 2 of us running together ! I am the least likely runner to cause a problem. Was this an attempt and placate the locals ? Still, it kept us occupied in discussion for a couple of miles though trying to work out what he thought he had seen. Disappointing after-taste though and I did speak with the race director at the end. The rest of the marshalls - terrific and very pleasant banter around the course in awful weather conditions for them.
