In short: wet, boggy, muddy, slippy, tough, but great fun
In full: this year the conditions were very wet and boggy with some pools up to waist deep, the tracks through the heather were slippery and muddy. This is an endurance event that cant be beaten by other inferior races but we did it in a group of 4 and really enjoyed the day, even the hailstones (in July) didnt spoil it for us. 42 miles of hard slog but well worth it.
excellent organisation with plenty of checkpoints and cheerful marshals to count you through mean we will be back next year.

In short: a challenging mix of road and off road tracks and fields
In full: A well organised race going through the grounds of Fountains Abbey with a tough hill leading onto a very wet and muddy field section.
It certainly clears the head after the overindulgences of Xmas
definately one to do again in 2007

In short: a good flat race with pb potential
In full: A well organised event with plenty of friendly helpful marshalls, a flat fast unusual course winding through the car plant.
Could have done with water available at the 1/2 way point rather than the high 5 drink that was available, didnt suit everyone.
No complaints about todays race and I hope that Chester le Street AC run it on the same venue next year.

In short: tremendously challenging but worth the effort
In full: The weather was perfect, cool, overcast with a slight breeze. The marshalls were all extremely friendly and helpful. the scenery was open moorland (with a bit of old railway line thrown in)and some of the climbs were almost vertical.
A challenge race that is hard work but I felt it worth all the effort for that sense of achievement as I crossed the finish line within the 12 hour time limit.
Not for the faint hearted as you have to do your own navigation across the moors from checkpoint to checkpoint
