In short: When the going gets tough - the tough lasts for 13 miles! In full: Excellent race organised by enthusiastic and caring people. My first time at this event and it wont be my last. Enjoyed the course very much even though I don't normally do mud and hills. The route is well marked. Very rewarding scenery in lots of places. Thanks again to the organisers and marshals and those at the water stations for a terrific day. Date of review: August 7, 2011

In short: A tough way to spend a summer Sunday but what a great day! In full: This was my third consecutive ultra having done my first only a fortnight before at Croydon, then Fairlands Valley. This was definitely the best for one reason only - the beautiful scenery from on top of the South Downs. I managed to run most of this race mainly due to the cajolling of three ladies that i was lucky enough to start chatting to. Helen and Lucy from Cambridge Harriers provided great company for the first half, but I am indebted to Carol Ann for helping me wipe 45 minutes off my previous best!!! Thanks ladies. The summer sunshine showed off southern England in all its splendour. The course is demanding, fairly easy to follow. The feeding stations could have been a little better. Thanks to all the organisers and marshalls for a terrific day. Date of review: July 30, 2011

In short: A real treat In full: I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I did the Ultra distance and along the way got chatting to a couple of runners who regalled a novice ultra runner with some great stories. The miles slipped by. The organisation was brilliant, the course fairly easy to follow and just the right amount of testing terrain. All the feeding stations were well stocked and staffed by terrific people who endured all sorts of weather. Thanks to all the people who made my day so enjoyable.

In short: A real challenge in more ways than one! In full: Like all the reviews before me, the route description was rather vague and could have done with a little more care to make the route fool proof. On a hot day, nobody wants to waste energy doing extra miles having taken wrong turns. That said, that was the only real gripe. It was a small number who entered and that was a shame. I believe it will grow, as a lot of effort had been put in by the organiser. The feeding stations were well stocked and everyone was friendly and helpful. The course was picturesque in places and non-descript in Catford!! Thanks for an enjoyable day all things considered. Date of review: July 30, 2011

In short: PRACTICALLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!!! In full: If I had known that it was so hilly, I probably would not have opted for this. But I would have missed a gem of a race. As everyone has inferred, it really is a brilliant race and I can only echo what has gone before. Sign up for next year as soon as entry is open. Lastly, thank you so much to the guy standing on the wall with the megaphone at the start who sang GOD SAVE THE QUEEN. Its the first time I've heard this at the start of a race in the UK and certainly got the adrenalin pumping. Thanks to everyone involved in organising a great day. Date of review: September 7, 2009
