In short: Well organised friendly 10K In full: Good information building up to run to ensure smooth running. Only hiccough really was out of their hands... a late start due to queues at the park & ride apparently. Even so, there were facilities to keep warm whilst waiting. Nice flat course (what else would you expect in Southport)! PB potential depending on the wind strength! Date of review: February 10, 2013

In short: Exhausting but exhilerating at the same time! In full: Well organised race from beginning to start. A fantastic feeling crossing Morecambe Bay, challenging to say the least. Understandably thre wasn't much opportunity for spectator support out on the sands but the crowd support when you reached dry land (literally the last 100yds or so) was very lifting and more than made up for it. A big thank you should also go to the bay guides who were entrusted with our safety in keeping us on the right route safely across the sands. Someone commented earlier about the cost of the run and what you got in return but if you read the race information they send they specify it's a charity run and considering the cost of the coach transport from I don't see what the problem is. This run should definitely be on everyone's Bucket List but if you do enter, make sure you use your old trainers! Date of review: June 8, 2010

In short: Fantastic atmosphere, brilliant day In full: 6th time I've ran this over the past 17yrs or so. Fantastic atmosphere again - have run New York once & although that was brilliant London tops it for atmosphere. Only negative mark was regards the starting pens at the blue start. On previous occasions the marshalls have been very diligent in making sure you were in the correct pen but that wasn't the case on this occasion. I was waiting in the correct pen but when we started moving forward for the start it was a free for all with people coming in through the barriers wherever they wanted. However, it certainly didn't ruin my day. A 'must do' run on anyone's bucket list! Date of review: May 7, 2010

In short: A largely traffic free & friendly run In full: First time I'd done this run & thoroughly enjoyed it. A fast flatish run with one incline of note. Largely traffic free as well. The starter did mention the mile markers were a rough guide but a few were very rough! So I was glad I had my Garmin with me. And after all the debate I'd noticed in the forum it was spot on for distance. Nice that they remembered a minute's silence at the start for Remembrance Sunday. A big thank you to the organisers and all the marshalls/ helpers Date of review: November 9, 2008

In short: Nice flat course. Enjoyed the multiple laps as it made most of the run through the park In full: Well organised event. Multiple laps make it good for family & friends who are watching. Bottle neck at the beginning soon clears.Banana a nice touch at the end but it was a shame they ran out of water Date of review: October 20, 2008

In short: Another enjoyable Liverpool 10K In full: I can understand all the gripes about organisation & correct distance but I think all credit should go to the organiser as it must be one big headache when last minute changes have to be made through circumstances that are totally out of your control. At the end of the day I enjoy my running & this was another enjoyable Liverpool 10K in a great setting Date of review: October 8, 2008

In short: Exhilerating! Hard work into the wind, that's for sure.Disappointing that the elements beat us In full: Such a shame that we were unable to cross the bay. However, all credit needs to go to the organisers & Alan Sledmore (the Bay Guide) & his team as safety was paramount. We obviously had the green light to start but I presume all the recent rain caused the River Kent to swell more than expected, hence the need to turn back. Now that was hard - running into a strong wind & getting a good sandblasting. Date of review: August 12, 2008
