In short: A little gem of a race! In full: I wanted to do this one again after work problems last year stopped me from attending. The comments posted before this are fair but should not put you off. The weather was again hot at 20deg but you can't blame the organisers for that!! Carry some water with you and you will still feel it - trust me i did!! Thanks to all the people involved for making this a memorable run Date of review: April 15, 2011
In short: Absolute Gem of a race In full: Another perfect day for this and despite not being well i still enjoyed every mile of it! If you like your undulations then this race is for you! Small and friendly with a nice mug to boot! Date of review: March 7, 2011
In short: Absolute Gem of a race In full: A well organised event with great support from the locals and marshalls. A very gentle undulating course with no serious hills. Very Nice medal just topped off a near perfect running day! Well done and many thanks to the organisers and marshalls. Date of review: October 12, 2010
In short: A challenging but brilliant event! In full: Third time for me and not my best time but i don't care as the course and the show are worth the day out , take the family to the show and have a tough run at the same time! Date of review: July 18, 2010
In short: Good race except for the Heat! You can't blame anyone for that! In full: Second time for me and the heat was just too much as i set a "personal worst"! You can't legislate for the weather and there was never going to be enough water stations but in saying that i got water at all of them despite being nearer the back than the front. Well done to all the organisers and the locals who suported all the runners with many hosepipes etc. Not for the feint hearted and the course is hilly whatever the weather. In short: Great race In full: If you want to organise a race copy this one! Loads of info and kept up to date.(nice after some events where there isn't even a mobile phone no. or even a recorded message to check!) The Scots really know how to organise and are not put off by a little bad weather! Superb event and would recommend it along with the Loch Ness marathon. Date of review: March 24, 2010
In short: Everything a running event should be! In full: A gem of a race.Undulating but no so much as to rule out a P.B.Good organisation and well marshalled.(Although i did manage to miss the water point at 11 miles as it was on a corner.) Nice tee shirt and refreshments at the village hall - will do this again! Date of review: September 7, 2009
In short: Well organised and fairly flat event - p.b potential. In full: As good as i remember it from the last time i ran this. The heat can be a problem but there are 8 water stations and you should carry some drinks if the heat boils you up like it does me! Super organisation and Newark is a lovely town to wander around for your supporting family.(The river trent boat trip from near the Castle is recommended in any weather!) There are no hills of any size on the course but the last couple of miles seem to undulate slightly - no problem if you train on some inclines. The start area could be better as it is very congested, but then again it is very handy for everything else!
