In short: All been said below. A great race.
In full: Pretty much everything you'd want in a marathon. A big shout in particular to the marshalls who were excellent at some quite tricky crossings and the enthusiastic supporters who traversed the course to give warm and vocal support. Super!

In short: Hot, tough but scenic run with traffic tedium
In full: A challenging, undulating run in the afternoon sunshine in the Great Park with a stunning finish running towards the castle. However, the steep entry cost, a 2hr car journey from West London to get to the run site, concern over the lunchtime start time (with some runners having real difficulties) and, as noted below, low-quality finishing goodies means that any recommendation comes (literally and otherwise) with a helath warning.

In short: Excellent race
In full: This is a great race in the calendar and big thanks to those who gave up their bank hol to organise. The points below regarding toilets are the switchback are fair but shouldn't detract from what is a super event.

In short: Enjoyably challenging and undulating run on the Downs
In full: Challenging first four miles give well to a pleasant run around the Downs. Crackerjack pen for finishers as well. Cool!

In short: Excellent race
In full: Pretty much the perfect November run. Alpine climb for 4K then enjoy the views on the way down before tea and cake at the finish. Even a miniature railway for the kids. Both a great race and a great event. Excellent.

In short: Really good, well organised 10K
In full: A proper club-organised race round 2 loops of the town. Some nice support as well. Thanks to the marshalls who cheered on in the rain.

In short: Good towpath race in the sunshine
In full: Fun 2 loop race up and down the Thames between Kingston town centre and Hampton Court. Again, I mucked up the start time and wondered why I ran 7 miles of the second loop without a runner in sight. However, starting 30 mins before everyone else does give you quite an advantage in the overall classification!! Obviously crowding mitigates against one start time so check you're setting off at the right time (even, as here, when there are only two start options).

In short: For those...
In full: ..... who live locally and want to get fit for one race a year, this is for you. For others, weaving through those participating in the earlier-starting walking event for the second half of the race, a couple of hairy, unmarshalled main road crossings and an absence of any water (on a hot day) until 6km (did I miss an earlier drink station?) might irk a bit. Not a favourite, I'm afraid.

In short: A good race in the sunshine
In full: You could quibble about the car parking, delayed start and the placing of a couple of the water/ sponge stops but all outweighed by the significant efforts of the marshalls to make this essentially a car free track (despite the huge traffic queues that built up). Well played to them and the enthusiastic support.
