In short: Crewkerne controls the weather god
In full: In the midst of the worst bout of weather in 40 years Crewkerne hold the Monty on an incredibly warm and sunny day in December (again) - they must have a direct line to the weather god and if they do they deserve it. Fantastic and challenging race, superbly encouraging marshalling and dream like organisation plus a Christmas pud to finish and spot prizes. No wonder all places are taken 3 months before the race day. But keep it quiet we don't want too many city people coming down 'ere.

In short: Blue skies and sun - perfect conditions to complement the mud....
In full: ...mud and more mud which with the hills, climbs, clambers and slides made this yet another Monty classic.

In short: A run for charity or trophies?
In full: Well done to Ilminster Lions and all the marshalls for setting up a course on a terrible early morning.

Thankfully, the rain stopped and the wind subsided by the 10:30 start so other than a bit of wet and mud under foot at some points on the course there were good race conditions.....and most people seemed very happy with their efforts at the end.

A little hiccup at the prize giving with the junior male and the female prizes being wrongly worked out did make the presentations a bit embarrassing BUT this is a charity race and I hope a goodly amount of money was raised and I look forward to returning.

WELL DONE Ilminster Lions.

In short: Wonderfully varied course and views - fantastic
In full: How varied a course you rotate round the isle looking at Weymouth, English channel, Portland bill, Chesil beach, passing from town, to dune, to estate, to seaview, running up, sweeping down, undulating and then UP plus UUUPPP - the front group made it feel a real race. Great organisation, fantastic quality towel as a momento, 6 water and sponge stops in 10 miles (thankfully considering the heat), loads of prize categories and a PB, I loved it all. Thanks

In short: A lovely testing, twisting, two lap course raising money for the local hospice
In full: and thankfully mostly run under tree cover so it wasn't too hot.

The fun run provided significant support which further added to the social atmosphere - well done Yeovil again.

In short: New course, same glorious weather in December
In full: 2 more hills, 2 existing ones made steeper and longer, longer course but even more fun and the same Crewkerne slick organisation (despite the start changes). Only one down point - the finish into Montacute House was missed.

In short: Well done - a vast improvement on last year
In full: Last year the race was run from a different HQ, the parking was shocking, blocked loos and nobody knew where the start was....this all changed. Positives - Revised HQ with significant off road parking, good non-runner entertainment, good PA communication through out, well marshalled and revised route that was more testing than ever plus they ordered sunny weather. Minor points for improvement - yes there was a sign telling drivers they'd have to wait to the end of the race before they could leave the rugby parking but it was A4 sized and at the gate entrance, resulting in some cars having to retrace their route down the narrow street (against the flow) causing unnecessary jams (but nothing like the previous year), signs could have been put up directing runners to the toilets in the adjacent sports centre(only 2 loos in HQ which were grossly over subscribed!) Lastly the medal presentation was at 14:00 which for a 10:30 start race was far to late (not everybody can/wants to stay to party (though it was very good) but generally a much improved race. but these are minor and the race itself is on beautiful rolling/steepy lanes - with the 10 mile and 10 km races crossing along their routes. If all organisers could improve this much in one year well who knows....well done and thanks
