In short: Nice plod but....
In full: I had convinced myslef to plod around this one and on the whole I managed to do this. Cold in places, icey at time especially around the first hill. The marshalls were a credit especially the loner at I think mile 8, it was harder for him than the runners. Good feed stations and again a credit, thanks for the smiling if not numb faces with the cold. REALLY GOOD to have many mile markers on such a course. Disappointed I found the last hill a challenge. Rather unhappy with a start which was 3-4 minutes BEFORE 09.30, I was not the only one who was aware of this and it wasn't the fault of my watch, which wearing now is still on the accurate side. Would be interesting in the sunshine.

In short: Track Marathons - will I never learn.
In full: Glad I did this but a week after Brentwood, maybe I wasn't fit for it. However there was a good bunch of folk there and hard as it was, 105.5 laps were doable. Particular praise for microphone mand and of course jellybaby/vaseline girl, have you ever seen as much vaseline in one hand!! The good bag was great and a rare treat in such a bag, lager! My one gripe which might be considered for next year. I KNOW man power was at a premium but more awareness of ones lap completion would be a big help rather than the 20 markers on the board which for the record never had my 100th crossed - bearing in mind ones mental fatigue at this point every little helps. With a 5 mile gaps before one sees ones status can be a long time.
Dwell on the positive, yes, well done guys, I think it went very well.

In short: Well organised but...
In full: Try having one free web entry page, every penny helps in this economic climate. Some fantasitc marshalls, especially my friend from Gateshead (you are a long way from home). The medal could do with the name of the event on, not just the ribbon. I found the uneven grass in particular hard on the feet, could give rise to an injury. I found the support from the public minimal, I know it was a large loop but once we left the start/finish to soon evaporated and we were on our own apart from the marshalls.

In short: Well worth the get up at 06.00 and a two hour drive.
In full: Very good and a pb of 3.26 (my 18th marathon). Very sparse support, no media coverage, no front line photo. Well marshalled, good mile markers, good food. Military shirt at end, not a good idea. If more run it, it might be spoilt!
