In short: So much better than a normal road race
In full: This run (note: a run not a race!) is up there with my best all time runs ever (such as Marathon du Medoc). The food stops were legendary - I enjoyed the cakes, pies, and coffee in the village hall half way around plus the picnic in the woods! A PB is a dead cert unless you have already run a 26.7miler before!

In short: Gets even better each year

In short: Well organised, inclusive, friendly, and enjoyable
In full: A brilliant event for beginners and experts alike. Attractive and interesting course. Very enthusiastic and professional volunteers at feed stations and in marshalling the car park. A perfect spring half-marathon.

In short: Awesome off road race
In full: Ran it once before in 2002 and said I'd never do it "ever again". Glad I did though - it was brilliant. Great marshalls and proper mud.

In short: Unique event with enough hills to keep you interested.
In full: Very friendly event with an interesting course profile. Road traffic not bad. Surprising that more people don't come out to support it though, especially considering how long it's been running! Should be a 'must do' in the marathon calendar.

In short: The best
In full: Found it hard from mile 8 onwards due to heat and injury a month ago - slowed down and started enjoying it again having accepted it wouldn't be a PB. Finished without injury and got a new PW!

In short: Go you steady on them there hills boy!
In full: Professional organisation by Black Dog Running Club. Good new venue. Perhaps both races should be an hour earlier start though.
