In short: Better than London In full: I was a little apprehensive being amongst a small field of so many fast club runners, but did not need to worry. Very flat course, absolutely brilliant support from marshals and had great help crossing the roads. Good finish area and great to have access to showers afterwards. I also got a PB by over an hour compared to my London marathon time so probably very biased. Somebody had also written words of encouragement on the pavement of the only slight incline which helped to distract you. I had said this would be my last marathon and just stick to half's but now this is one race I want to enter every year. Great Job! Date of review: October 17, 2011
In short: Very friendly race and well organized In full: As a smaller scale race than the likes of Bristol and Bath I found the encouragement and support from the marshals excellent. The organisation was brilliant. The slight hill at 11 miles stopped me from having a pb, but only just. Great atmosphere, well done chippenham harriers. Date of review: September 12, 2011
In short: Beautiful scenery and weather, but thats it. In full: This race does have the potential to be really good, BUT......Where were the marshals?? Nobody around to control traffic. Where were the drink stations when you need them. Terrible for people without water bottles. To top it all, the goody bags ran out really quickly. It can't be rocket science to no roughly how many people will enter the race, when you have a maximum limit. Needs much better organisation for me to do it again. Date of review: October 18, 2010
In short: Is this race organised by poeple who have never run?? In full: I must echo most of the comments.
Firstly the good: Crowds support.
The bad: Everything else. I hope there is an official apology or someone gets sacked; No mialing of numbers until last week, colour coded race numbers changed at last minute, one tin of soup?? and a twisty cobbled section at the end, no T-shirt.
This has to be the most expensive tin of soup ever!
I hope they read this forum and do something about it. Date of review: September 10, 2007
In short: At least there is good shops and pleasant crowds in cardiff In full: Oh Dear!
Really looking forward to this race but many problems; 1. No timimg pens so all levels of competitors mixed up. 2. Too narrow a course for that many people, lots of potential accidents. 3. Not enough people handing out drinks and marshalls not controlling the crowds. 4. Very small mile markers and difficult to see.
On the plus side, where there were crowds, they were very vocal. Finishing in the millenium stadium was good.
Overall, there are far too many better organised halves than this! Date of review: October 16, 2006
