In short: Possibly the most welcoming club host I've come accross In full: Well marshalled, decent course, very friendly club. Diffciult to fault but I will find one fault as I;m an accountant I'm paid to be critical. My fault is the brief section where runners going one way at abut 2 miles, and runners going the other way back at 4 miles, did not have enough bank to run on. It was dangerous, basically running straight at each other on essentially a single file stretch. Being a gentleman I ran basically through 2 foot hight reeds, etc. Date of review: June 9, 2008
In short: Nice one Knavesmire. In full: Fautless organisation, top course, excellent goody bags. Just need some sort of anti-wind tunnel near the finish, as it was like running into a brick wall. Must have amused the spectators to see people trying a sprint finish (ie me) and going nowhere. Date of review: January 25, 2008
In short: Hard to concentrate at times given the beauty of Dewsburys famous landmarks In full: Taking in such historic landmarks, as legends night club, various kebab restaurants, the brilliant new Lidl superstore and Tescos at Batley, this race offers the ultimate in racing backdrops.
Additional excitement is offered from the occasional mock sports car, with huge Perspex spoilers and alloys, which may pop out from the numerous hidden side streets. Pumping out some reet tunes and ripping bass lines from their high power Argos stereos, you’ll relish the opportunity to try and avoid these beauties whilst running at speed.
In short: I love chip timing me.... In full: Made several errors on the chip timing front, initially sending out chips with the wrong names. Having corrected that, I was then initially disqualified for being first woman home, as they had me and the wife the wrong way around on the database. That said it was fairly quickly corrected the day after when I guessed what they'd done.
The course has pb potential and for me is a good race to do being from Leeds and the local big 10k for me, so would do it again.
I think they should limit the numbers perhaps, as the start must be very dangerous for some given the sharp beng only 100m ahead. But then its for charity so all for a good cause. Date of review: November 27, 2006
In short: Sent me the wrong chip In full: Well organised overall, with drinks stations a plenty, would give it a far better score but they sent me the wrong chip, relegating me on the initial results from a time of 1:15 to 1:46, so not best pleased with that, and have yet to respond upon me querying it. In short: Well Organised and Scenic In full: Can't fault the organisation, although as with most half marathons I am not keen on the use of cups rather than bottles for water. Date of review: April 3, 2006
