In short: fantastic race
In full: this was my 3rd GSR and will be back next year for sure. Having entered many races in my time, the GSR is so well organised. The crowds are always there whatever the weather, the T shirt is always good quality and the medal is always really fab. Although the rain was quite severe, it made the run quite cooling and I enjoyed every minute. Cant wait for next year! Well done Portsmouth. Thanks to the fantastic crowds too!
PS it makes a change to have smaller drinks bottles that are actually opened for you. Wish all races did that

In short: will never do it again
In full: To start with, it all seemed to go well, but when the baggage tent wasnt ready at 8.45 i started to get a bit jittery! It seemed to go down hill from then.....

very overcrowded at the start and very poor organisation for the first few miles. slow runners mingling with the faster guys made it really tricky and nearly fell over cones in the rd a couple of times.

I thought the drink stations were well positioned but poorly manned. to have to undo the tag on the bottle, flip the lid open and then drink was really annoying. the bottles should have been opened for us. Also there werelots of inconsiderate runners who thrwe their bottles in the paths of runners behind without even stopping to look. I almost tripped on one bottle which came my way.

I thought the route wasnt particulary intersting. just one long concrete road with huge rocks on one side and the river on the other (which you couldnt really see)

Finish was really good and was so glad to finish, completely exhausted at the hot weather.

Maybe im just grumpy at being so exhausted, but I definately will not do it again. The goody bag just put the lid on it really...unimpressive.

In short: great race, well organised
In full: this is my 3rd leeds half marathon and the organisation has got better every year. always a friendly race and always a challenge! will definately be back next yr. I thought the medals were great and at last....a T shirt that actually fits rather that a nighty! thought some of the roads should have been closed off though as it got quite congested in places.
Great race!

In short: hilly and challenging but one not to miss
In full: going abck for my 3rd year this year and wouldnt miss it for all the tea in china! Great atmosphere, great goody bag, medal and t shirt. Very hilly on the first half which is a shock to the system, but 2nd half down hill which is a relief. Plenty of drinks stations and marshalls and overall well organised. Love this race, and as I have to travel form Swindon every year, I think that speaks for itself!

In short: more loo's at the start and finish, and better water stations. leaving bottles at the side of the rd is not good enough
In full: where were the toilets at the beginning of the race. 1000's runners with no loo's. really poor organisation. didnt know where the start was and the pen markers did not work. no visible finish marker at the end and no goody bag. Had to walk quite distance to get our medals. pretty poor really, but had a good day anyway. really good atmosphere though
