In short: One of the most enjoyable races I've done! In full: Without a doubt this is one of the best races I've done.
This mix of urban, countryside and park was just right. The marshalls were fantastic, particularly all of the young lads in the last two miles (they really do spur you on).
As this was a training run for me I even found I enjoyed the hill at the end and the final run in to the finish.
Overall a fantastic race. Date of review: October 20, 2008

In short: A little moan In full: First things first this is a great race (I did the half)but I must have a bit of a whinge.
Firstly the race is blimming expensive for what you get.
Secondly, there does need to be a bit better organisation at the start, i.e. clearer timed pens, there is a hell of a lot of people starting in the wrong time zone (more so than other big races)
Thirdly, I know there is a lot of bobbing and weaving at the start but my Garmin, which is usually pretty accurate measured 13.4 miles for the course - just accurate is it?
Apart from that I'll be back! Date of review: September 16, 2008

In short: At 6.5K, you are likely to get a PB.... In full: ....but this course is hard.
I've now done this race in sun and rain and both ways it's tough.
The opening hill sets you up for a hard run, the mixing terrain is at time very tough and the last three k on the cloud trail is really sapping - so much so that this year I even had to run / walk.
Still it is a really different and charming village raise which proceeds go to help the village school - as such I'll definitely be back. Date of review: June 21, 2008

2008 Long Eaton Pro-Nation 5
 | | Overall score | | 60% | | Would you do it again? | | Yes | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 40% | | PB potential | | 80% | | Atmosphere | | 60% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 100% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 80% |
In short: An excellent organised race - but Long Eaton isn't pretty! In full: I really like this race, it's well organised, a good price and a really nice t-shirt....but Long Eaton isn't the prettiest place in the world and a personal gripe is that I never like racing on a field - it tends to lack a sense of having a course! (does that make sense?).
Still Long Eaton RC really do the best with what they have.
Thanks for organising. Date of review: June 15, 2008

2008 Rotary Club of Kenilworth Two Castles 10K

In short: Definitely not a PB race but excellent nonetheless In full: Today this was a very slow race, the run is pretty much uphill all the way (even if the gradient is minimal), the sun beating down made it even more difficult.
Still, I loved it - ran a couple of minutes slower than my normal 10K time but given the conditions was well pleased with this as I did a negative split.
The organisation was really good (even if the finish seemed a bit disorganised) still would definitely do it again.
Thanks to the organisers. Date of review: June 8, 2008

In short: I always enjoy this one! In full: This is a small race but is exceptionally well organised, great marshalls, fantastic T shirt, really pretty scenery.
The cobbles do do something to your legs though which makes it quite painful (for me at least).
I think that this would be one of the best kept racing secrets in the country, apart from the last three kilometres (which are a little bit dull on the scenery front).
Still a great race.
Thanks to the organisers. Date of review: June 1, 2008
