In short: Favourite Race of ther year
In full: First time of doing this race and I will definately be back next year. Nice touch with the 2 minutes silence and the last post. Loads of mud and water some of it containing cow pats.Friendly marshalls and great organisation. My only one critisim is the wait for the stream/ditch. Almost 15 minute wait and if it had been raining would have been horrendous. Otherwise great goody bag and great race

In short: Hilly, muddy but great fun
In full: Tough race expecailly that first hill right at the beginning. Talk about chest burning. Never seen so much water or mud in one place before and nice touch with the obstacles, especially the lake at the end. Definately be back next year!!

In short: Good race to blow away the cobwebs
In full: Having read previous reviews there are far too many negative comments. Its a winter race so fog and mud to be expected. I turned up early and heard the announcer explain the start was 500 metres away and a few minutes walk. There were plenty of toilets. Saw every KM marker. Marshalls very friendly especialy stood there in the cold! Route much better this year. Exit out same route as the runners not too well planned however as already mentioned in another review there was another gate and all you had to do was follow the other cars using it if you didn't want to sit in the queue. Overall this was a really good race which I thouroughly enjoyed and will be back for next year!

In short: EXCELENT, will be back next year
In full: This is my 3rd Hellrunner and each year is different. Great bogs and hills. Took a lot of scrubbing to remove the mud and I am sure I will find missed patches. Really enjoyed this and I will most definately be back next year. One minor gripe was the goody bag not as good as previous years but the traffic no problem as we stayed behind and had a picnic while everyone else queued.

In short: Great race but don't enjoy 5 hours queuing!
In full: This is the 3rd time I have done this. I cannot fault the organisation of the race. T-shirt good and plenty of loos. hoever, living only 45 miles away left at 815, loads of time before the start. NO!! Took over an hour and a half to get on the common parked. Just got to the start in time. Can't help the weather. Finish no problems apart from the 3 hour wait to get out of Portsmouth after being moved from pillar to post and hardly moving. Of course you have to expect some congestion, I accept that but 3 hours to get out I find ludicroous. Would have spent the afternoon in Portsmouth but by the time we got there most of the shops would have been shut. It definately needs some work before next year!

In short: A disapponiting race this year
In full: I was looking forward to this race after doing it for the first time last year. However, the start was chaotic. Difficult to stand in the right starting place, only found it as I heard someone say. I found the first 5 miles very crowded. I could not believe all the people dropping like flies! Last 3 miles seemed to take forever and again very crowded. The finish was disorganised and I gave up trying to find my husband and ended up walking back to the hotel. But the good points, the crowd support was amazing as was the support from the marshalls. Plenty of water and energy drinks. However, due to the cost of entering, hotel and fuel I don't think I will be back next year which is a shame as this was one of my favourite races.

In short: Cooler than last year, well organised
In full: Well compared to last year which was about 30 degrees, today was much cooler. Enjoyable race, friendly marshall and scenic run. Beat my PB so pleased and I will definately be back next year.

In short: What a fantastic although painful race
In full: This was my first marathon. Was aiming for 4 hrs 20 and managed 4hrs 32 mins so really pleased with that. Exelent organisation right from the start to the finish. Weather damp but perfect for running. First half went well and at mile 20 I really started to hurt everywhere especially my knee. Even now I don't know how I ran those last 6 miles as they were the hardest. The crowds were amazing and at times the cheering was deafening. I have never experienced crowds like it before. There were loads of water stations. At times I had a lump in my throat looking round at the reason people were running and my hat goes of to the blind gentleman who I overtook at around 20 miles. The best feeling has got to be coming round the corner at Buckingham palace and seeing the finish line. I have nerver felt so exhausted in all my life and my first words over the line were "never again". However upon reflection maybe!! This was an amazing experience and one I shall never forget. A big thank you to the crowds, the marhalls and all the unseen helpers you were great!!

In short: Windy, hilly and muddy but exelent fun definately a must for next year
In full: This is the 2nd time of doing this run and this year was even better. Hills steep, windy and cold and lots of mud. Very well organised, friendly marshalls. Only complaint was queing for the stile which took 5 minutes and by then I had started to get cold. Otherwise exelent and will be back next year.

In short: Good pb potential, good weather
In full: Great weather if a bit chilly. Good potential for pb's with a few inclines added. Interesting to hear that it was measured at 5 and a half. Be Very intersted to know what the measurement actually was. Second time of doing this race and will be there next year.
