In short: Lovely scenary and a well organised event In full: Very much enjoyed this run yesterday. The countryside is a real pleasure to run through and it was quite varied (through nice villages, open sections with great views, a ford (easily cross by a little bridge).
Thought it was well marshalled at all the key points so no chance of getting lost.
It is a certainly a challenging 10k with 2 noteworthy hills. The second, after the Ford (at around 7k) will stick in the memory.
It's a special race and I am really pleased I did it. One of those races that motivates you to want to do another 10k soon.
No memento / souvenir or anything but that isn't massively important.
Overall, very much enjoyed it and thank you to the organisers. Date of review: April 8, 2013
In short: Good to have done once, not sure about a repeat In full: +s + Some special moments - Crossing the Tyne Bridge and running along the coast after that steep short hill down at the end + The red arrows swooping around + The 'bands on the run' music along the way + Frequent water / drink stops + Seeing so many people raising so much for charity + Friendly atmosphere between runners and good support from the locals + Nice medal and T Shirt at the end
- The location of the baggage buses required a long walk picking my way between the thousands and took ages to get to. By the time I put my bag in the bus, there were so many people it wasn't possible to get back to my allocated starting area. - Most of the scenary isn't that special - Not the fault of the race, but the BA flight what was supposed to be at 20.10 back to London being well over 2 hours late
Overall Am very pleased to have done this race. I travelled up from London for the weekend and think it was well worth while to take part in something so big, televised and as someone interested in running to have done it! It was also great to explore Newcastle which is a city I'd not visited before. I was impressed, especially with the Quayside area. Date of review: October 3, 2006
In short: Well organised race on a freezing cold day In full: +s - Well organised - Entirely off road - no angry drivers to contend with - Chip timing for true accuracy - Nice medal - Good photography - Friendly miz of runners. Evidently some very good people but also a nice number of less high achievers (like me!) - No hills!
-s - Cold weather and the wind seem to whip across the airfield - Two laps of the circuit and not a particularly interesting one - Not much in the way of an atmosphere and the marshalls didn't do much to compensate by cheering you on either... Date of review: March 12, 2006
In short: Enjoyed this race for its friendly atmosphere In full: A well organised race on a rainy Sunday morning. Big thanks to the marshalls - it can't have been too much fun standing there in the rain. I would recommend this race, especially if you are live in south west London / Surrey. T Shirt finishers prize was good too. Date of review: February 13, 2006
