In short: Loved it - the marshals, organisers and event was excellent. Really fun and encouraging. In full: This was my third ultra (in as many months) and my first on my own. The instructions were really clear - there were a couple of times I needed to double check but that was more about me not know how far various metre lengths were!
From the volunteers on the registration desk to the ones manning the checkpoint - they were all fun and encouraging and all had a smile (I think they were as grateful for the weather as we were!)
It wasn't a ride in the park for me - but surely that's the point of a challenge! and the 5 blisters on my toes from my wet shoes rubbing certainly made the last few miles interesting.
But none of that takes away from the organisation and volunteers which made this event a great day out! Date of review: July 15, 2012

In short: Organisers have adjusted times In full: Well done to the Organisers for sorting this one out and adjusting the times. You can see there message and new times here http://brightonhalfmarathon.com/# I must admit I still think I will see what happens next year before committing to do this one again but hats off to them for the quick turnaround when I'm sure they thought they'd all be at work and not dealing with this. In short: I must have missed the memo that said half mara's are now over 13.5 miles! In full: Worked hard to train to get a PB for this race and did get one - however would have been more impressive if the course had been measured properly. This cost me 4 minutes on my time - which is a big difference for me. It measured on my garmin at over 13.5 miles, as everyone has said the problem being between mile 4 and 5 by the time I got to mile 7 I was over half a mile out - alot when your chasing a certain time. The finish after was shambolic with no real organisation or knowing where to go - out of 6 other runners only one ended up with a goodie bag (which was just full of advertising stuff), 2 managed to get a wrist band, not everyone got a 'cup' of water, we all did manage to get a medal. For the cost this is now just a money making exercise with no thought put in to what runners at all levels actually want from a race - I will not be back which is a shame as I've run this race about 5 times - each year there just seems to be more problems. If you can't be bothered to measure it properly then why not just advertise it as an expensive fun run for those not going for times. Date of review: February 19, 2012

In short: Around some lovely countryside and well marshalled In full: The Marshall's were great and deserve a big thank you for standing around in windy and rainy conditions and they all cheered and clapped as I plodded my way by. Good mostly quiet country roads. Got a PB, so that made it worth the weather. Date of review: December 10, 2007
