In short: An enjoyable day out for the family In full: It is really good to find a charity organisation putting something back into our sport. Lovely scenery, and excellent support from everyone involved. The good weather, though a little warm for running, enhanced the whole occasion. This was more than just an ordinary race and, obviously, had different priorities. Nevertheless, a most enjoyable run and well done to all those concerned. Date of review: May 10, 2009

In short: Excellent organisation. Difficult to see how this could be bettered In full: A great training race. Well organised and excellent support fron marshals and others on the course. The availability of High 5 gels on the second circuit of the loop was a really good idea. Well done Ashby! A great, good quality top as well! Date of review: March 22, 2009

In short: Weather was poor and there was still a feeling that th e locals did not want us In full: My number arrived in an envelope with no instructions or details of the race. To obtain these you had to go online. The warnings of local hostility for the race did not provide a pleasant start but this was not the fault of the running club. The new start worked well but would have been difficult had the field been muddier. Marshalls were excellent throughout and the food at the end was excellent value. I feel that this year was an improvement despite the weather. Date of review: March 8, 2009

In short: Simply magnificent In full: I enjoyed going around the other way. I saw views I had missed in the past. I found some of the climbs were steeper, but shorter than on the clockwise route. I agree that there is a traffic problem in the last couple of miles for the marathoners. Neveretheless, windows of cars were drawn down and the suppport given was uplifting. Well done Rod. Are you going to try the marathon next year? Date of review: September 16, 2008

In short: Start a bit chaotic but a very nice finish In full: The frequent water stations were most welcome. The start was in a very narrow street and many slow runners had made their way to the front. This soon sorted itself out and the course was mainnly flat and fast. Very good and encouraging marshalling. Date of review: August 10, 2008

In short: A demanding yet enjoyable 15 miler In full: The problems with mile markers that were apparent last year had been rectified. The atmosphere was excellent with marshalls and supporters cheering us on all around the course. There was a little congestion as the 15 milers caught up with the slower 10k people but nothing very serious. All in all, a great event and for a very worthy cause. Date of review: April 27, 2008

In short: An excellent event. In full: Last week I ran the Gloucester 20. My comments for that event were not positive. This event was the absolute opposite. The organisation was superb. That it was likely to be so, was readily suggested by the way the race headquarters was arranged. Everything was carefully labelled, all certificates were clearly visible and information was given clearly over the P.A. system. Above all this race was runner friendly. All the information was given, as at my previous race. Yes, we were warned about urinating against residents' hedges and yes, we were told not to use MP3 players. This was all done in a manner unlikely to offend the mass of runners who follow advice to the letter. Also, impressive was the frequent request of the Race Organiser for feedback to help improve the race experience. What a difference from what we meet on many other occasions. The course was challenging but all marshalls and those manning water stations were excellent in their encouragement. Finally, my faith in young people (and older ones!) was somewhat restored when an organiser from the charity, Rainbows, spoke at the end of the prize giving. Her dignified speech was received with the great respect it deserved. Well done Ashby. Date of review: March 10, 2008

In short: Are runners really welcome at Frampton? In full: In a large field there are bound to be some who upset the local people and some things they do cannot be forgiven. But, hey! most of us are just out to have a good run and don't want to upset anyone. I found the locals most stand offish and particularly object to the woman who shouted out of her car window to another motorist suggesting he ran over runners who were returning to race headquarters after the finish. I have never been in an event before where the organisers were so concerned with placating the local residents that at the start the words "enjoy the race" were either missing or lost in a plethora of warnings. This was my third and probably final run in this event. Runners are obviously not welcome in Frampton and I have no desire to return to such a place Date of review: March 2, 2008
