In short: Enjoyable
In full: This was the second time I have done this, and both times it's rained. Still that didn't spoil the enjoyment, It's a nice run with some up and down sections, but they don't seem too bad, and there is a lovely downhill finish which made even me feel like Usain Bolt! People with iPods need to watch out as there some sections on road (with traffic) with no pavement, and it would be *really* good to get an early water station. There are a couple of spots that one could be fitted in i think

In short: mud-tastic
In full: In my opinion always a good race, well organized and friendly. The course was muddy from the recent rain and that added to a nice challenging course. The woods in autumn are lovely, and finishing the race gives you a good feeling having worked quite hard to get round (or that's how I feel anyway!). Excellent

In short: Great race
In full: Apparently, last year the raceday was really warm, talk about polar opposite (sorry). As mentioned by the other reviewers there was some snow this year, not masses but it added to the already attractive scenery Really enjoyed the race. Plus points - The marshalling was excellent, great work on day where running was definitely preferable to standing. Negative - none really, the only small thing was I have no idea what was said at the start of the race by officials, if anything, just couldn't hear. Think this race may become a regular for me. Right, I'm off to find some bear and make sure my glass is working properly ;-)

In short: Hill-tastic
In full: This was my 3rd time in this race and I have enjoyed every single one. The organization was excellent- the course seemed to be marked more clearly than it had been previous years and there was great support from the marshals. The glass was a nice little keepsake too. The course is the star though, a lovely run through woodland in full autumn splendour. There are some hilly bits, but it wakes you up on a Sunday morning!

In short: Nice small race
In full: This is nice race, the hills are not to severe but they give you a bit of a test and the scenery is nice. The downside is the presence of traffic on the course, but this is an inconvenience more than a big problem, and it's not really a practical option to make this course traffic free. Organization was excellent, everything went off pretty smoothly - bananas at the end, reasonable goody bag. Having the first water station a little earlier would be nice. Enjoyed the race and will probably be back next year !

In short: Not worth 18 quid
In full: I don't think this was worth the £18 entry fee. The countryside was lovely and the course nice was a nice intro to trail running. I'm pretty sure I followed the course markers exactly and the course came up 400m short on my GPS..i know GPS can't be regarded as gospel I don't usually get that level of discrepancy on 10k, even with heavy tree cover.

The goody bag was ok, nothing special. The mix of people taking part was good.

I just don't feel I got £18 value from this race

In short: I'll stick to smaller races
In full: My first 'big' race and I didn't really enjoy it. Luckily I didn't need to use toilets, however that didn't stop me getting caught up in the queue! I thought the start was terrible, I expected a slow start but not to have reached the start when the winner had already finished... Maybe they should investigate using multiple starting areas, if that's not possible amybe you shouldn't have *that* msny runners. The other problem was dodging people on the route, I'm not that quick but it was still a problem, my km times were incredibly uneven.

On the plus side, I found the baggage reclaim worked really well, it took about 30 secs once I'd got to my area. The crowds were good, the views were good and the weather held. For me, I think I'm going to go back to races with <1000 people !

In short: Turned out nice again
In full: Rainy and wet at the start, it didn't look good, but the wind dropped a little and the sun came out. Turned into a nice run round a picturesque park. Even managed a PB. Very supportive marshals and a nice mix of abilities. Nice race.

In short: x-cross country for beginners
In full: This year the weather was excellent- you always take a risk in November and the woods looked great. This is an undulating course which tries to knock you out of rhythm slightly through park and woodlands. It's friendly, and provides a great opportunity to run away from the roads. I enjoyed this alot.

In short: Average all the way!
In full: It's an ok race, the route isn't wonderful and it is a shame because there is the opportunity to add some greenery to the route. It's not a tough route but the hot weather hurt this time round. Friendly race, well organized.
