In short: Where were the coaches? In full: Those of us running the half-marathon had to wait a long time for the coach back to the start—so long (and in such cold and wet weather) that my friend and I jogged home instead. Date of review: March 5, 2012

In short: This is always a good race: friendly and fun. In full: The weather was almost too warm this year: I like it cold, wet and challenging. (But not windy.) Otherwise, a great race as always, and I was very grateful to the organisers for allowing last year's entrants to carry their entry over (the run was cancelled last year because of the weather). They must have made a significant loss doing this, so many thanks. Date of review: December 28, 2011

In short: Too many cones and were the mile markers correct? In full: Little to add to previous comments except that there seemed to be too many cones along the route; I nearly came a serious cropper one of them early in the race. And my Garmin, usually remarkably accurate, said that many of the mile markers were up to 0.2 miles out, and indeed that the whole race was 26.4 rather than 26.2 miles! After 26 miles, that last 0.2 can be quite tough. Date of review: May 26, 2008

In short: Friendly, very challenging, great fun. In full: The organisers do a great job, from manning the drinks stations to taking the injured back to the start. I did get lost a couple of times around mile 23 but that was my fault! A great day. Date of review: March 3, 2008

In short: Toilets poor, but thanks to the scenery the race has great potential In full: As others have said, there were very few toilets at the start, fewer, per runner, than any other race I have run. Can't someone work out a formula for how many loos one needs per 1000 runners? Shouldn't be too difficult. But apart from that, as long as you got back before the heavens opened, it was a good race. The runners were particularly friendly, the scenery was, in places, spectacular, and the atmosphere was good. Date of review: June 14, 2005

In short: Poorly organised In full: Although we were asked to use the train and not drive, there were far too few shuttle buses at both the start and the finish. For me the end was also marred by at least one over-enthusiastic 'steward'. I agree with others that medal distribution was rather hit-and-miss. On the other hand I retrieved my bag very easily and the atmosphere among the runners was great. But how can you finish a race in a football stadium and not know how to deal with large crowds?
