In short: What a choice for a first marathon, fantastic
In full: I ran this as my first marathon and I am glad I did. Not too many runners so there is no pushing and shoving, the course is spectacular but it is very very tough in parts (especially miles 22-25).
Great organisation, plenty of support, loads of drinks stations that are well manned.
This is a race to do. It is daunting for a first marathon but worth the effort.
Thanks to all the organisers and helpers and well done.

In short: Surreal surronding - Magnificent
In full: Loved this race even though it is very tough. The bit after the Kent River crossing was great; many square miles of 3 inch deep water and it looked like we were all running across the surface of the sea.

If you like quirky races then this is a must.

Very well organised.

In short: Tough but great fun and very friendly
In full: Some very tough uphill bits but a fast walk seems as quick as trying to run on the very steep bits. Scenery is great. Plenty for the family to do at the finish line.

Great organisation and a real frienly feel to the whole event. It will be on my calender for future years.

In short: A short sharp shock, but it doesn't feel short at the time!
In full: My first fell race and it was fun, but tough. It's only 1.75 miles to the top but it was all uphill and some of it was very, very steep.

I want to do it again.

In short: Well run and friendly
In full: This is a well run race. Two laps along the front. Long flat sections and very little hills make it fast. Ron McAndrew, the organiser was helpfull joining in the RW forum with news. I enjoyed it.

In short: Good fun, but 2 hills and a lot of mud
In full: Cracking race. Quite a challenge with 2 tough hills; the first is shorter but early in the race so an effort, the second is longer but you're in the swing of it. In 2005 it was a bit wintery with strong gusty winds, but that added to the challenge. Oh and the paths were a bit muddy!

In short: It was good weather and the views were great, you just had to run up some big hills to see it!
In full: Quite a tough run as it is nearly all uphill for the first 4 miles. Great views when you get up there. It was beautiful weather in 2004 which did mean there was some ice on the road so you had to be careful. The oddest bit was near the end where you run pass a reservoir. It is surrounded by palisade fencing which the low winter sun shines through. When you run past it creates a strobe effect. Could it be an epileptic fit inducer?

Loved the race and would do again.

In short: Fairly falt run and not too much traffic
In full: A fairly flat course and not too much traffic. The start was a bit of a scramble through the car park, but that was over in a few hundred metres. The run then follows country lanes in a single circuit. When I was leaving after the race there were still runners coming in and they had to negotiate a car park full of runners who had finished and cars that were leaving, so that bit I think could be improved on. Apart from that a well organised race and I would do it again.

In short: Fairly flat course so not too hard for a beginner
In full: My first 10 mile race so cannot compare with others. It is a fairly flat race so was not too hard for a beginner. Overall seemed well organised but were quite a few road junctions where cars were waiting to get out so probably hard to marshal. I liked the mug memento. Would do again.
