In short: Great local race - friendly, well organised
In full: I run for Dulwich Park Runners - I had a bit of a shocker today but that was my fault - not the race - knowing the route like the back of my hand helped - I kept on thinking it was summer league. Big shout to the guy who did it in black shoes, trousers and a shirt! Impressive. The team shield was the surprise of the day and it made my day after a difficult week - it's on my mantle piece :)

In short: Top class marshalling but get the band to play something more upbeat!
In full: Really good, dedicated, friendly marshalling. A beautiful day, the first of Spring. Well manned waterstations. Course is fairly varied, I've been to worse (The Worthing 20 springs to mind!!) Nice, T shirt and quite a funky medal + some well received chocolate. V. Good. Certainly PB potential despite the undulations.
Oh dear God the traffic on the way out of the lido car park - thank goodness for the member of the public who helped out with traffic policing!

In short: Perfect London build up
In full: Just got back. The weather was a bit grim - the marshalls weren't! They were very friendly and did an excellent job. Gently undulating course that, on a brighter day would have been quite beautiful. Some of the route was a bit random - at one point we were jogging between lines of cars in a car park - but that was fine. A few car drivers were all too ready to splash runners unfortunate enought to be by puddles at crucial moments, but you'll always get that sort of motorist I suppose! Good water stations - practically spot on mile markers, nice tea and cake at the end, easy, free parking. Thumbs up! ;)

In short: Much better than other alternatives
In full: Lovely race. Scenic, friendly, undulating - the hills aren't too bad - mostly they are over quickly! General hazards of gormless pedestrians and dog-walkers make it a bit perilous along the sea front, but that makes it more fun!
I recall last year that there were showers and more toilets. It is a shame these were not available this time - it's nice to have a shower after a 20 miler, and to avoid queuing for 30 minutes for the loo!

Well organised, with a nice, branded towel and a chunky medal in the goody bags - excellent value for money.

In short: Good local support and marshalling made this potentially miserable day
In full: The weather started drizzly, let up for a bit and then got worse! Personally I think the undulations took their toll and I hit the wall prematurely. However, 4 miles of utter pain aside, this was a very well organised race with excellent, friendly marshalls who worked hard to encourage runners through the driving rain!

The reward at the end was good too - great medal and a t-shirt, sensible, generous snacks in goodie bag and lovely sandwiches and cakes.

Three slight downsides - the course is not bad but not exactly exciting ... more jelly babies for next year (!) and one (cold) shower for all the female participants post marathon - perhaps consider not advertising the shower facility as it was not really sufficient - then people would know to get showered at home.

Overall - worth it for the friendly atmosphere! May be back next year.

In short: Scenic and suitably challenging
In full: Nice views and promenade, the undulations made it challenging without being hellish. Generous goodie bag with a lovely momento. Excellent build up to a spring marathon.
