In short: 2 river swims, 2 85ft mud scrambles, 12 obstacles, oh, and 10k aswell. Fantastic! In full: The marshalls and organisation was superb. Runners were started in 9 waves, 15 minutes apart so no waiting at any obstacles. Hot showers at the end. I'll be back next year. Date of review: May 16, 2010
In short: Organisation worked like clockwork in this fast flat friendly race In full: The marshalling was excellent and friendly as always. It was good to see a staggered start which eliminated the bottlenecks in 2007. I had a bad run after insufficient training this year but will be back to improve the PB I got last time I ran it. In short: Superb race organisation and excellent marshalls In full: The wind made for grim running and slower times but the marshalls added the necessary warmth to the whole experience. The hill that forumites referred to was more of a damp squib. Really enjoyed today. And...LOTS of toilets! Date of review: January 20, 2008
In short: Lives up to its name. Lots of mud and plenty of opportunity for humiliating photoss In full: Not as muddy as last year and I'm sure that the several hundred steps have been mysteriously removed! An absolute doddle compared to the behomoth that my rubbish memory had created. Used MT shoes for the first time today so no slipping and sliding. And what about that for a fab momento? Top quality.
Thank you to the cold, wet marshalls, most of whom had expressions approximating "I wish I'd never come", but without them I'd have got hopelessly lost.
In short: Excellent half with outstanding marshalls In full: Brilliant atmosphere at the start - there was no way we could forget the Acorns charity this run was in aid of. Loads of toilets (for a change) and I was pleased to hear that this same start venue will be used for the next 4 years. This race went ahead with a revised route due to flooding, but the info given via the web site and email regarding this was spot on.
Only gripe was the lack of water at the first water station - us slower runners need hydrating as much as the faster ones.
Will be back next year. Date of review: July 3, 2007
In short: My first marathon and I found it hard work! In full: The organisation, scenery and fantastic support from the other runners made it go by much less painfully than might have been the case. With all the discussion on the thread about the nightmarish descent I was a little worried but found it OK - a bonus for training in a hilly part of the world I guess.
My only grumble is that after dragging my sore limbs over the finish line I was told I couldnt have a massage as they were going home. An incentive to run faster next time! Date of review: May 21, 2007
In short: Fast course for a new PB In full: We were late getting there so missed the whole toilet fiasco which sounded slightly irritating for most other runners. The marshals were encouraging and there were enough water stations. Making us run past a Hose 2 miles sign when we had 6 more to run was a bit mean but overall a splendid race made even better by the weather. Thank you. Date of review: April 8, 2007
In short: Only gently multi terrain In full: Beautiful scenery, slightly muddy, lots of sheep and of course the legendary cakes at the end. A perfect beginner’s multi terrain race Date of review: April 2, 2007
