In short: just as good as last year . pity more runners did not turn up In full: This is such a friendly race. The HQ is in the city hall so it is good to keep warm while waiting for the start and you can leave your bag safely. Then during the race the marshalls are great. So friendly and encouraging. Finally at the finish there was bar code timing, an excellent t-shirt, flashing wrist band , banana and water and all for £12. Fantastic. Back in the city hall there is cake and cups of tea. What more could you really want from a race! I hope more runners turn up next year. Date of review: February 24, 2013

In short: a hard but interesting race with a mix of surfaces and scenery In full: I found the course very hard especially the first few kilometres but what goes up must come down so it got better as it went on. I am glad the weather had been dry or the run through the woods would have been treacherous. The marshalls were great and the organisation overall very good. The only problem was lack of signs to the car park which meant runners parking on the road while the car park remained fairly empty.Excellent goody bag considering the price but it would be nice if the medal actually had the name of the race on it.If you have not done this race give it a go, you will not regret it. In short: One of the hardest runs I have done but also one of the most enjoyable In full: I knew there were steep hills but they still came as a bit of a shock especially the second one.You expect to turn to the right where you can see the village but you are turned to the left up a vertical incline .Half way up I wanted to lie down but I made it. The marshalls were very encouraging and the tea and cakes at the end were very welcome. Date of review: April 15, 2012

In short: Outstanding race with brilliant marshalls. In full: Great weather helped to make this a wonderful race. A muddy course but very flat and with a few interesting sections. Brilliant marshalls , full of encouragement ,clapping all runners and making you smile despite all the effort. Then at the end a brilliant t-shirt; one you will actually want to wear, and cakes and cups of tea to finish it all off. It would be difficult to manage with a lot more runners but I would have to say if you want a really enjoyable race this could be the one. Date of review: February 19, 2012

In short: Fourth time I have done this race and it is always enjoyable whatever the weather. In full: Great day for running.I was not sure what was different about the course from last year although we approached the finish from a different way. Markers were a bit confusing but the starter did say they would count down for the 10k.Like a lot of races people are too busy talking to bother to listen.I would recommend this race to anybody who enjoys off road running as it is not too hard and the tracks are not too uneven. In short: This is the fourth time I have run this race and I hope to be back again. In full: Everything about this race is good. It was great the way the starter waited for the ladies queuing for the toilets. This does not happen at all races. The marshalls give loads of encouragement and the band along the way and the lady playing the violin all helped. Great to have a cake and cup of tea at the end. I love the long finishing straight aswell. Where have all the previous years comments gone?

In short: Very well organised for a first time event. In full: This was an excellent race. The route was perfect with no traffic, one long but not too steep hill and tracks through the woods to keep the sun off. The organisation was great . You could tell the organisers were still learning the ropes but they coped very well. The marshalls were friendly and there was a good crowd clapping every finisher. I hope this race becomes very popular in future. Date of review: September 23, 2011

2011 Devizes Roundway rampage
 | | Overall score | | 60% | | Would you do it again? | | Maybe | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 80% | | PB potential | | 40% | | Atmosphere | | 60% | | Organisation | | 60% | | Value | | 80% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 60% |
In short: A very good effort by Devizes Running Club for the first running of this event. In full: I have put maybe against would I do it again because I found the race very hard for my age. For younger, fitter runners it should be a very good challenge. The marshalls were very friendly and encouraging and the scenery was great although because of the route you often had to look at the ground instead of what was around you. The very steep hill and the couple of stiles makes a normal PB pretty impossible although as there are not many 7 mile runs I suppose this might be the only one most people do. There was a bit of a problem with parking as some of us followed the car park sign into the Police Station car park which was OK until you tried to get out and there was a barrier blocking the way. I was disappointed to come first in the over 60 vets and not receive an award. It would be nice to think this could be changed in future. If it is run again next year I hope there is a bigger entry but that could cause a problem at the stiles. Date of review: August 29, 2011

In short: Quite hard due to running on rutted gravel tracks and a very hot day. In full: Had a job finding the start as instuctions were not very clear and then had a job to park. The route has plenty of undulations but nothing too hard although when you get to mile 4 and see the route stretching out in front of you it is quite daunting.Very hot day which made it a hard run. Some friendly marshalls especially the one at mile 2 who told us there were only 20 miles to go!!! Date of review: July 3, 2011
