In short: Disappointing, poor organization, no marathon finisher shirt! In full: There is little I can say that hasn't already been said. I trained hard for this and was looking forward to reliving the positive experience of my first marathon at the 2006 race. Too many negatives from the lack of signage, to unclear baggage instructions, to bland medal, lack luster finish location, etc etc. I was dismayed that after doing a PB that there were NO marathon finisher shirts! Then had to walk the mile+ to the bus! This has the potential to be an awesome race if more attention is given to the details we runners value and not just about how many events can take place on a given weekend and where corners can be cut. I sure hope lessons are learned...as the numbers may be a lot less next year by the sound of these reviews! Date of review: May 25, 2011

In short: Can you say HILLS!?? In full: I think lots was spent to publicize this event, now more needed to assist the runners. I use a camelbak and glad I had it as the water stops with cups was a bit difficult. The local support was welcomed especialy at the hill tops. Better directions as end of race as to where bags and buses to start were located. Mile markers were accurate and marshalls had the route well covered. Goody bag disappointing and the medal doesn't say "half marathon" on it. Date of review: October 18, 2010

In short: WOW WOW WOW In full: Beautiful scenery for a well planned race. Loved the unique ride to the start on the steamer. Excellent marked course, marshalls were a bit scarce but in place where needed. Views stunning and had to make sure I kept watching my feet and not the scenery as to avoid slipping on the very rocky bits. Very well organized and the staggered start times were big help as not overtaken by the blue or white runners. Would have prefered a T-shirt over the yummy stew. It was a great day and glad this was added to the series. Looking forward to 2008! Date of review: November 5, 2007

Clouds broke at the 8k mark to be able to see Derwentwater in the distance. Ya gotta do this race for the pure adrenaline rush! Looking forward to Coniston! Graham and Co you just keep getting better and better! Well done and thank you for an exceptional day! Date of review: September 1, 2007

In short: What a day!! In full: Fantastic event with monsoon like rain and howling wind (6k) thrown in for atmosphere. I'm sure the views were stunning, but couldn't see them for the weather, but what I could see was worth the hours out there. Looking forward to a repeat of Consiton next month. Good job to all involved. Thank you! Date of review: September 7, 2006

In short: Great day, and a PB to boot! In full: Return trip to Blackpool was worth it. Manned baggage storage appreciated. No real crowd support to speak of. Windburned from the twice run out to Bispham but didn't mind it for the 5 1/2 minute PB! Close tumbles on the onset with the sharp R turn to lower level. Downhill and wind to back into the finish was perfect! High Five to ya Ron. Pssst: Bottle water next time? Shirts? Date of review: February 27, 2006

In short: Well worth the effort! In full: First time ever running a trail and now am a converted road runner. Enjoyed the challenge of scampering over rocks, near cliffs, scattered slate, bogs, stiles, and avoiding colliding with ramblers. The scenery was unimaginable and worth every sore muscle. Well organized and looking foward to April. Date of review: September 20, 2005
