In short: A magnificent and atmospheric weekend In full: Brilliant and sometimes quirky support - always raised a smile. Coming into Inverness, the encouragement was so uplifting. And Dores was something else. Top marshalls and organisation. It's getting to be a bigger field every year? Date of review: October 19, 2011

In full: A well balanced course: a long initial descent requiring concentration, and good flat 2 mile middle section demanding sensible pacing, a long climb back to pay homage to the Sherwood Foresters at the Memorial(as very appropriately mentioned by an earlier reviewer. 5 counties visible from here), and a fast run in back to the finish.
Yes it was more than 10k, but more scenery than you paid for! A map was available on the website and the route described as a 'testing', 'off road' course. Let's take some personal responsibility as participants. Signs are never permanent, and always open to tampering etc.
Well done to the organisers on their first attempt. Could do with a few more marshalls at key points next year? Date of review: July 20, 2010

In short: A (hilly) Tour of Derbyshire In full: Distance, exposure (and that's in reasonable conditions)and 4 serious climbs make it a challenging long distance race. Probably equates to a marathon and don't plan on doing too much the week after! Fantastic scenery, marshalling and generous hospitality make it suicidally compelling. Date of review: October 18, 2007

In short: Inspiring In full: Thanks to the marshalls, and the TA lads - you're all obviously used to the rain- all smiles despite the grim weather! Tough course, but the reward is a quick last 6 miles. Running through Dores was the highlight, great support. Date of review: October 6, 2006

In short: Top marshalling, scenery and a course that holds your interest right to the bitter end! In full: 18 miles, but so hilly that I think a safety net of 20 mile + road runs would help to really enjoy the run. Great company, and some sections of serene loneliness makes it a defining race to experience the pleasures of running. Unique to be clapped in by most of the other runners at the end! Thanks Belper RUFC Date of review: August 22, 2006
