In short: A great event I couldn't run due to injury but..
In full: ..I went to support my wife & her sisters who both ran, one was racing for the first time. There's such a great atmosphere from the moment you drive into Harvel & there are people in fancy dress giving directions! The village green was the centre of activity & it was buzzing, really good with beer & pimms available plus ice creams for the kids!
All runners I spoke to said it was tougher this year, but they all enjoyed it, especially my sister in law who's now caught the bug! A great race!

One extra thing to add, thanks whoever it was that decided to place pics in the men's urinals, I managed a full 30 second burst in the face of one of the Woolwich murderers, the most satisfying p*ss of my life.

In short: First time but I'll be back next year!
In full: I watched my wife & her sister race this last year & thought I'd give it a go this time. The Julie Rose Stadium is a great setting, plenty of parking, toilets, changing, refreshments etc, also very good for spectators to watch the final 300 metre dash around the track to the finish line. The course I would describe as mildly challenging, there's a lot of ascents & descents but not very tough climbs, there were also two drinks stations in a 10k! One apparently is a mystery to the organisers, they just handed out bottled water bless 'em!. Lots of people out cheering & clapping the runners too which was nice. My wife's Garmin measured 6.25 miles too, very close to being exactly 10k, unlike other races we've come across & the extra .05 could just be the difference between running on the right side of the road for the optimum line. Organisation by Martin Burke & Nice Work was top notch, they know their stuff and everything ran smoothly & results were online quickly. A very nice race & I recommend it to everyone, from 1st time 10k runners upwards.

In short: Great fast course in a great setting
In full: Nice atmosphere, very well organised race, fast course suitable for a 5k pb, I got mine as it was the first 5k for me! :) Hoping to get down there for the last race to try for a new pb!
Nice fun kids race too, I think they did 1km but all came in looking happy & got a medal & clap from all of the 5k runners lined up for their race.
All of this followed by fish & chips sitting by the harbour, an excellent evening!

In short: Nice run but could be a very nice run!
In full: For a SEAA Certified 10k course to be 5.85 miles (my wife's Garmin) in this day & age of GPS technology is not good, everyone I spoke to had similar readings & that really needs sorting out. The turn round point could very easily have been moved further along the seafront to make up the distance. Pre race nerves coupled with liquid intake = lots of toilet trips, to have to pay 20p each time after putting a fair amount in the parking meter was also not so great, a couple of Portaloos would be a vast improvement. Also, the ancient path used for a fair portion of the run made the nice scenery disappear for me, I was too busy looking down making sure I didn't sprain an ankle, using the parallel road would have made the run so much more enjoyable. Having said all of that, it was a nice friendly atmosphere & a lovely setting, a very pleasant run with the above mentioned problems excepted. The old Citroen van selling home made refreshments is worth a mention too - it's outstanding! Addressing the easily surmountable problems could make this a truly great place to run, I hope they take the issues brought up here onboard because their enthusiasm was nice & I don't particularly like to criticise people who take the time & effort to organise races.

In short: Fantastic race, i absolutely enjoyed it. This was my first race following a bad foot injury and it gave me a wonderful boost. The crowds at the finish line really helped and the after race pimms went down a treat!! My kids enjoyed the ice cream !!!
