In short: If there is one race you must do the then this is it! In full: A change of course for 2008 but just as enjoyable (maybe more so) as in previous years. Still has the fantastic scenery and challenges albeit a little longer. The Wilf's meal included in the entry fee was certainly welcomed at the end. As with all the other Lakeland Trail series races the organisation was faultless. A great day out for all the family. Date of review: June 10, 2008
In short: Fantastic trail run which comes highly recommended In full: Another successful event in the Lakeland Trails series. This event has something for everyone in terms of choice of races and things to keep families amused whilst the race takes place. A great course with a nice variety of terrain. Thanks Graham, Claire and the rest of the team for another great event yet again. You guys are really setting the standards and long may it continue! Date of review: April 22, 2008
In short: Excellent finale to the Lakeland Trail Series In full: A 30 minute cruise made it a relaxing way to start a race. Being on one of the later sailings it was good to see runners on the course and appreciate the scenery of the route. Nice undulating course with great views of the lake. The Wilf's feast at the end hit the spot! As usual the organisation could not be faulted. Lets hope this event becomes a firm fixture in the series for next year. Date of review: November 5, 2007
In short: Lakeland Trails continue setting the benchmark for other trail races In full: Another first class event in the Lakeland Trails series. Possibly the easiest of the series but it still provides a challenge. This event had something for everyone. Races catering for all abilities/members of the family and plenty of entertainment to keep everybody amused. Organisation was superb and the marshalls did an excellent job of providing encouragement in the drizzle. Well done Graham and Claire. Looking forward to the next one. In short: Still worthy of "The most scenic race in Britain" title. In full: A great course with fantastic scenery, some lung busting climbs and wickedly fast downhills. You can't get bored with a course like this.
The theft of the first water station did not detract from a great event, luckily the second water station was not far away.
As others have mentioned in hindsight it may have been useful to have a few signs pointing people in the direction of the t-shirts, soup, baggage etc as it may not have been obvious with everyone milling around.
Lots going on to keep everyone entertained during and after the race. Date of review: June 4, 2007
In short: Lakeland Trails continue setting the benchmark for other trail races In full: Another first class event in the Lakeland Trails series. This event had something for everyone. Races catering for all abilities/members of the family and plenty of entertainment to keep everybody amused. A challenging course that gives you a sense of achievement at the end. Really looking forward to the remaining four events. Date of review: April 30, 2007
In short: Well organised event - a great Winter warmer In full: Good course which was marked out superbly (no need to refer to map provided). Very muddy and hard going in places especially across the fields of crops. At times it was like running with divers boots on. But still very enjoyable!
Changing rooms, boot wash and refreshments at the end are a definite bonus. Date of review: January 7, 2007
In short: Once again another excellent event in the Lakeland Trail series In full: Shame about the rain but then it is the Lakes and it didn't seem to dampen anyone's spirits. Course had a nice mixture of terrain including steady uphills, nice fast descents, stream crossings and dare we mention the boggy section. Great encouragement from the marshalls as well. In short: Well worthy of 'the most scenic race in Britain' In full: The event that has it all... great scenery, excellent organisation, friendly atmosphere, good mixture of trail, lung busting ascents and eye bulging descents. Just wish I'd spent more time looking at the scenery! Date of review: June 5, 2006
In short: Tougher then it looks! In full: The course was a lot more difficult then first appeared when looking at it on the OS Map. Some steep uphills but the scenery made up for it. The marshalls as usual were excellent and very encouraging.
Another excellent race in the Lakeland Trails series. Date of review: April 24, 2006
