In short: Bonfire night followed by a scenic HM In full: Hard to fault this one! Marlow one of the prettier parts of England, with the HM very well-organised and still managing to maintain that village feel despite 1500 entrants. The route is glorious and virtually car-free, with some challenging hills to make it interesting then the last mile is all downhill. Top it off with a great fireworks display at Longridge the night before and a pub lunch afterwards and its a great weekend. Date of review: November 12, 2011

In short: Friendly organisers, nice flat course In full: Six laps around Hackney Marshes might not sound the most scenic race route, but actually a really nice mix of sun and shade, grass and track running. A great race for beginners and very well organised. Date of review: August 22, 2010
