In short: Lovely race and a chance to sightsee around London all in one In full: Excellent race - pretty well organised but the baggage drop off was a nightmare and as usual no where near enough loos - after queuing for 20 mins for baggage drop off and a further 20 mins for toilets I missed the start! Lovely route and after initial frustrations every thing else was fab and I will definately be back for this one again next year. Date of review: October 12, 2009
In short: hot and hilly - again! In full: 5th time I have run Windsor and every yeara it is hot and hilly - I really don't like the 1pm which was delayed this year leaving us all sweating in the direct sunshine.
Agree no where near enough loos - the queues were just silly. Marshalling and drinks stations were excellent and the St John's Ambulance people were kept very busy - they were dropping like flies in the last 2 miles.
Its my local race so I can cycle there and back but the traffic was dreadful today as some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to host the palace to palace bike ride on the same day - duh!
Medal is ok but not as good as previous years and I missed my goody bag - plus after running 13.1 hilly miles in very hot conditions I would have liked more than one small cup of water at the end - we don't all like Lucozade you know. Date of review: September 27, 2009
In short: Fab organisation and warm support from the crowds In full: Very well organised race, everything ran like clockwork, excellent support along the route, loved the stadium finish and very efficient end of race handling!
Plus I liked the crisps (and the overall amount of food) in the goody bag and the nice shiney medal.
Only negative - it would help if spectators and runners were kept more seperate at the beginning - there was enough congestion on the way down to the start without having to dodge pushchairs. Date of review: March 30, 2009
In short: Excellent support transforms this race from a dull, rainy 10 miles into an event worth doing In full: Whilst I very much enjoyed this race again I have to agree with the comments on the wave start - I was bumped down to white A this year which was fine but within a mile I was coming across obviously unfit people struggling with Orange numbers. This must be so annoying for them being passed constantly and for faster runners weaving to get past them.
Actually rather liked the rain this year and not so blowy on the final stretch and will definately be back for more next year but it would be nice to think that the Great Run peeps will start to listen to the runners and keep this race on the list for faster runners. In short: Fantastic race - well organised, friendly andspectacular sightseeing! In full: I loved this race - thought the t-shirt was fab, arrived at the start where we had free stuff thrust upon us, liked the band and the start with the artilery gun, loved the sightseeing tour of London and although the criss crossing of the park was a little tedious the great support and the last downhill stretch were marvellous.
I even liked the wooden medal and the bananas at the end!
Very well organised, it was probably not a good start for elite runners but for normal plodders like me it was fine, lots of friendly marshalls and water stops - could do with more toilets next time.
Will definately put this on my to-do list and recommend it to all - even at £39 I thought that I got my money's worth. Date of review: October 13, 2008
In short: Bit amateur on the whole In full: Delayed start due to parking problems (not that large a field so shouldn't have been a problem) friendly but slow registration, immensly poor goodie bag - £13 for no medal, no t-shirt, no memento - some sports beans and a milkshake. In short: Hilly fun but not enough mud this year! In full: Had a great run - my third time so well prepared for the hills and the organisation seemed much better this year, it actually started on time for once. No idea what is going on with the silly raffle tickets thing at the end - I didn't bother. And I weed in the bushes - it seemed the sensible thing to do. Date of review: October 16, 2006
