In short: Uplifting - better than London:) In full: WWW: marshalling - thank you you were amazing; entertainment - cheerleaders (wow!), Michael Buble ( was that you?), drumming bands, improvised DJs, spectators, other runners, medics, park n ride -I thank you all. EBI: park n ride - unnecessary queues at Moulescombe not the fault of the marshalls but double checking passes with lists unnecessary; queues for toilets at start; toilets need to be available at park n ride after a long drive.
My condolences to the family and loved ones of the young man that died - my thoughts are with you. Date of review: April 16, 2013

In short: Flat, fast, fun and floods (well muddy puddles!) In full: Thank you marshalls! Great race. Weather was kind apart from head wind in the last 2 miles . I could not get water at the first water station as the had seemed to run out of cups - organisation issue; but that was the only hic up. Friendly marshalls and fellow runners. Great fun! In short: Challenging but great fun! In full: Thank you for the excellent organisation and supportive marshalling. I used the race as a build up for the Beechyhead Marathon - it really helped. Date of review: October 30, 2012

In short: Train, train & train if you want no pain! In full: Due to injury I'd only managed 14.5 miles as my longest run building up to this. I had previously run it but, like childbirth (so my wife tells me), I'd forgotten how hard it is. I was fine for the first 16 miles but then everything hurt! Having said that, I loved it. Unforgettable feeling running parallel to the meander at Cuckmere Haven and back to the sea and the daunting Seven Sisters ( with some step sisters thrown in). Thank you for the excellent marshalling! Only one criticism. More signposts to toilets at the start - there were some horrendous queues in the cold wind. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: A must for any runner! In full: This was my first London Marathon; I had applied many times before but to no avail. Unfortunately I as I started back in zone 5 it took a few miles to actually start running at my target pace - this did set me back quite a bit and was very frustrating. This combined with the heat in the second half made it a particularly tough race (strangely more challenging than my previous marathon at Beachy Head). My only criticisms are about 'runner's etiquitte': firstly, too many runners were indiscriminately throwing water bottles across other runners and over the heads of the spectators (some were actually hit!); and secondly, as runners tired in the last 6 miles many just stopped and started walking without any consideration for those still running behind - this was very frustrating. Aside from these, it was a very memorable and emotional experience - strongly recommended. Date of review: April 28, 2011

In short: If you love hills then this one is for you! In full: Great race but hard. Demanding ascents and painful descents. Very friendly atmosphere. Many thanks to the supportive marshalls who had to spend hours in the cold. Date of review: November 10, 2010

In short: Loved the race! Mildly undulating; cross-country; lots of stiles. In full: Quite a low key race; I entered on the day, which was a pleasant change for a bargain price of 8.00 (affiliated). My only criticism was that due to circumstances beyond their control, the leisure centre toilets flooded; therefore they closed all the toilets and showers but the did not re-direct people to the nearest available amenities (which I happened to find, by chance, in the local football pavillion)- the leisure centre staff were not very pro-active! Hey, I survived - forget about it! Date of review: August 27, 2010

In short: My second time of running this. Because the course is fairly flat with just gradual inclines, mainly towards the end, I always feel it has PB potential. In full: However, I can never seem to fulful this here (although I was a minute faster than last year). Still, an enjoyable race; efficient and friendly marshalling and encouraging spectators - many thanks. Date of review: July 22, 2009

In short: Great organisation. Excellent marshalling. Uplifting crowd. In full: Nice horse brass - and, thankfully, not another tee shirt! My only complaint is that I appear to be getting slower (or Hastings has added half a mile) - four minutes longer than last year - can do better! Hills are your friends! In short: Potentially an excellent race - when the hic-ups are ironed out In full: I arrived at the start line with 15 minutes to spare. There were not enough toilets, as far as I could see, to cater for the large numbers. I had to start at the back, and although not fast I am a sub-1:42 runner; barriers made it very difficult to get any further up the field, so I was stuck at the back. It took 8 minutes to cross the start line and an eternity to dodge past the slower runners - it was my worse time ever! It would be helpful if signs were clearly displayed to easily place people according to their potential. Marshalls were great. T-shirt - 'not another one' - would much prefer a medal (sorry).
