In short: My First Marathon fantastic organisation In full: With the fiasco of the Stratford marathon that I had trained for cancelled on the line and running on that day the hardest most miserable half marathon ever in terms of weather. We added out names to the waiting list of this marathon on the monday never thinking we would get a place.
Organisation was fantastic from first contact to the end of the race. We found out 3 days before the marathon we were in and knew that at our level of running the undulating course would be a chllaenge as we had trained flat and were not fully rested from our statford escpade.
The parking was good, runners I spoke to were most friendly and all the marshals were fantastic even stopping the small amout of trafic for us when we ventured off the lanes.
Weather was good, drinks stations were frequent and some had coke, squash, jelly sweets, raisins and even the wonderful melon at the last two stations.
Be aware that the course is contantly indulating there are very few flat areas for long except the last mile or so.
At the end we got a tshirt and a medal, also in the goody bag there was a luch provided.
In all a fantastic first marathon experience and one I will recomend to all.
My only negative and this is not the organisers fault is that if you are a slow runner like me there are no crowds big cheering and at times you can be quite lonly on the course as it is mostly country lanes. Date of review: May 7, 2012
